How do we know when corporate philanthropy is genuinely making a difference? Creating lasting social change means looking beyond immediate results to consider whether an intervention will continue to have a positive impact long into the future. In our latest Studio Sessions episode, Clare Woodcraft, Fellow at Cambridge Judge Business School, joins Tanuj Kapilashrami, our Group Chief Operating Officer, to discuss why organisations need to take the time to understand what works - and what doesn't - to create meaningful impact at scale. The conversation also explores why scale is not simply about reaching more people, but about creating change that becomes embedded in a community. Renminbi (RMB) is playing a bigger role in global trade, payments, and investment as companies and investors look for more ways to manage risk and navigate a changing world. Speaking to CNBC (@CNBC) at the International Monetary Fund (@IMFNews) and World Bank (@WorldBankGroup) Annual Meetings in Bangkok last week, Ben Hung, our President, International, shared why resilience today is increasingly about diversification rather than concentration. That shift is supporting RMB's recent appreciation and growing usage. Ben also discussed how businesses are adapting to changing trade patterns, diversifying supply chains and investments, and seeking a broader range of funding and currency options. Watch the interview: At Standard Chartered, our RMB network connects onshore and offshore markets across more than 35 locations, helping clients navigate changing trade corridors, access capital and capture cross-border growth opportunities. In a more fragmented and multi-aligned world, how do businesses and policymakers build resilience without losing the connections that enable trade, investment and growth? That question framed our Breakfast Conversation during the International Monetary Fund (@IMFNews) and World Bank (@WorldBankGroup) Annual Meetings in Bangkok last week. Following opening remarks from Maria Ramos, our Group Chair, the discussion featured Ben Hung, our President, International, and Jan Metzger, our Global Head, Coverage Banking, exploring shifts in global power and what they mean for cross-border trade. Three themes stood out from the conversation: the vulnerabilities created by debt, leverage and concentration; the importance of building greater optionality across markets, supply chains and currencies; and the enduring value of dialogue, human judgement and trusted relationships in navigating complexity. The panel also explored how resilience increasingly goes beyond preparing for the next shock. It means creating the flexibility to respond to change, capture new opportunities and maintain the connections that underpin global commerce. At Standard Chartered, our international network and local market knowledge give us a distinctive perspective on these shifts in global trade, helping us connect clients to growth opportunities across the world’s most dynamic markets. Global trade is being reshaped, with new routes, relationships and growth opportunities redefining globalisation. At the Institute of International Finance (@IIF) Annual Membership Meeting in Bangkok, our President, International, Ben Hung, joined senior banking leaders to discuss what this shift means for businesses navigating geopolitical uncertainty, changing trade patterns and supply-chain realignment. The conversation, which took place alongside the International Monetary Fund (@IMFNews) and World Bank (@WorldBankGroup) Annual Meetings, explored how new opportunities are emerging across fast-growing corridors, including China–ASEAN, intra-ASEAN, India and the Middle East, and Africa–China, as companies rethink where they manufacture, source and sell. “Fragmentation does not necessarily mean there isn’t going to be any growth coming through…[it] is simply redefining globalisation in a different way,” Ben told the panel. For financial institutions, the priority is to help clients navigate these changing patterns, and turn greater complexity into more resilient approaches to trade, investment and funding. As a leading international bank, we connect corporate and institutional clients to a network that offers unique access to long-term growth opportunities across Asia, Africa and the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
