At the first ever Rough Sleeping Summit in Downing Street, the Prime Minister has confirmed that this Government has doubled funding toward our flagship pledge to end rough sleeping for good. Behind the UK's response to bluetongue virus is world-leading science. At APHA Weybridge, I saw first-hand the expertise helping protect animal health and our farming industry, and plans for a new National Biosecurity Centre that will strengthen our resilience against animal disease threats for generations to come.

We are a nation of animal lovers - pigs are intelligent animals that deserve to be treated with care and respect throughout their lives including at slaughter.   The public want to know the meat they buy in the shops is produced in a way that supports high standards of animal welfare. These plans will help deliver that and reduce unnecessary suffering. We are committed to supporting farmers and businesses make this transition which will bring long-term benefits👇🏻
