This is page one of Robinhood’s SEC filing. Robinhood acknowledges that its stock tokens do not qualify under the SEC’s new tokenization exemption and that it has faced legal challenges from issuers. These disclosures directly relate to concerns Adam Aron has raised about AMC’s unauthorized tokenization. Robinhood is now formally acknowledging the regulatory and legal risks. @CEOAdam

Three family members were shot and a fourth struck with a hammer during a violent home invasion on Hyde Park Circle, just off the Bridle Path, around 3:45 this morning. Three masked suspects, two armed with guns and one with a hammer, entered through the rear of the home, where parents and their two adult daughters were inside. A confrontation followed. Two shooting victims suffered life-altering injuries; the third is recovering. No further suspect descriptions are available. Police have not said whether the attack was targeted or random.

You do not have to strike someone to make them live in fear. Coercive control can involve isolating a partner from family and friends, controlling their money, monitoring their movements, and using intimidation to take away their independence. Viewed separately, individual incidents may conceal what becomes clear when you examine the entire relationship: a sustained pattern of abuse. Canada has passed legislation creating a specific coercive-control offence, but those provisions have yet to take effect. The priority must be getting implementation right, with proper training for police and prosecutors, clear evidentiary standards, and meaningful support for victims. Investigators need to understand the history, recognize the pattern, and assess the danger. Victims should not need a visible injury before the abuse they are experiencing is taken seriously.

This story shows how far we’ve come with Coercive Control. I am impressed with @gmpolice for recognising the patterns and the risk. There was a conviction which is not always the case. Well done Shannon for your bravery.

At 3:15 this morning, a woman was assaulted on Steeles, west of Yonge. Police seized a wooden object with a sharpened tip. She is in serious, possibly life-threatening condition. A 45-year-old man is in custody. No word on a motive or whether the woman knew the man.

To quote Toronto Police Association President Clayton Campbell, “Good cops hate bad cops.” These remain allegations, unproven in court, and every accused officer is entitled to the presumption of innocence. But I find myself repeating that far too often lately. I have no time for bad cops. Beyond the harm they cause their victims, a single officer’s actions can undermine public trust in an entire police service. That damage can take years to repair, and for some people, that trust may never return. The officers currently before the courts must have their cases judged on the evidence. If convicted, they should face the full consequences of the law, along with disciplinary proceedings under the applicable policing legislation, including Ontario’s Community Safety and Policing Act. Where the grounds for dismissal are established, they need to be fired. Full stop.

Some of the things that come to mind when I think of walking into Maple Leaf Gardens with my dad, the smell of popcorn, the ushers in their suits and white hats, and the excitement of riding the escalator up to our level. Paul Morris’s unmistakable voice, the organ playing, and that big centre-ice clock counting down the intermission. Passing the Hot Stove Lounge and wondering what was behind those doors, a place that seemed so mysterious when you were a kid and couldn’t get in. And those souvenir mini sticks and Maple Leafs sponge pucks we’d take home to play on our knees, or bring to tournaments where the hotel hallways became our rink. I’ve been a diehard Leafs fan my whole life, but those memories of the Gardens mean more to me than hockey alone. They’re memories of growing up, of time with my dad, and of a place that was part of my childhood. I was even there the night Darryl Sittler scored his ten points against the Boston Bruins. That was probably my greatest hockey moment at the Gardens, but walking into that building with my dad is what I treasure most. You don’t need a Stanley Cup to have a lifetime of wonderful, vivid memories.

Ron Duguay, a million dollar contract in New York City, a fantastic hockey player, good looks and a legendary head of hair. You can only imagine the stories from his Studio 54 days. He remained a handsome guy right to the end. From the outside, he seemed to have it all. But you can have everything, and without your health, none of it can save you. That’s the cruel part.

This tribute Ron’s daughter put together really hits home. To this day, when my daughter calls from New York or sends a message saying, “I love you, Dad,” it brings tears to my eyes. It’s what that word means to me: someone she trusts, looks up to and knows she can turn to, whatever life throws at her. Having that place in your children’s lives is an incredible privilege. Knowing that one day they’ll have to carry on without you in this crazy, crazy world is both frightening and heartbreaking. Rest in peace, Ron Duguay.

Oh Dad💔💔💔💔, I don’t even know what to say. My heart is so broken that I feel like I can’t breathe half the time. 💔 These last two years have been such an emotional roller coaster, and I have never in my life witnessed someone fight so hard to live. You wanted to be here so badly. You fought with everything you had, not just for yourself, but for all of us. As painful as these last two years have been, they have also been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Being able to walk through it all by your side, spending so much time together, and making memories I will cherish forever. Maybe that was God’s gift to us all along. Two years ago, things looked so scary, but you kept fighting. You fought long enough to meet Ranger, to make so many more memories with your kids and grandkids, and to give us time together we might not have otherwise had. Life slowed down, and we learned to cherish every little moment with you. I will hold those memories close to my heart for the rest of my life. Dad, I am just so sad. It physically hurts. I already miss our daily phone calls, sometimes multiple times a day, talking about anything and everything. I miss your voice, your laugh, and knowing I could pick up the phone and call you whenever I wanted. Even when you were going through the hardest battle of your life, you were still such a rock in ours. You brought so much joy to everyone around you. You were truly the funniest person, and somehow, even in your final days, you still found ways to make us laugh. I have never known anyone stronger than you. I am so incredibly proud to be your daughter. I would give anything for more time, but I find peace knowing you are no longer hurting and are finally healed in the arms of Jesus. I love you so much, Dad. I wasn’t ready for a life without you. I don’t think I ever would have been. Until I get to hug you again. ❤️

Wow, thanks for this. Hearing Paul Morris’s voice on the PA, seeing Ballard in his corner suite, watching the out of town scores change all night even that end of period horn takes me back to being a kid at the Gardens with Dad. And Davey Keon, my all-time favourite. Those were good times.

The investigating police service assesses the circumstances and, if it believes the AMBER Alert criteria are met, submits a formal request to the OPP’s Provincial Operations Centre, providing the evidence of danger and available descriptions of the child, suspect or vehicle. The OPP reviews that information to confirm the requirements are met and issues the alert on behalf of the requesting service. The investigating service remains responsible for the investigation and provides updates to the OPP.

@SteveRyanCP24 Steve, 1) When speaking of police, is the actual decision to issue an amber alert made by the local police force, or the provincial police (OPP), or both together coming to a consensus and 2) who or what body created the strict criteria required to issue one? TY.

Ontario’s AMBER Alert criteria: Child is under 18. Police reasonably believe the child has been abducted. Police reasonably believe the child faces serious bodily harm or death. Enough descriptive information exists about the child, abductor or vehicle to help locate them. The alert can be issued soon enough to reasonably help recover the child or apprehend the abductor. The fact that an AMBER Alert hasn’t been issued suggests police are not satisfied that all the criteria have been met, potentially including reasonable grounds to believe the children are in danger of serious bodily harm or death.
