🆕 Lord Ashcroft Award for Courage: Kateryna Polishchuk, “Ptashka”, defender of Azovstal. At the Warsaw Security Forum, @LordAshcroft presented the inaugural Lord Ashcroft Award for Courage to the Ukrainian combat medic whose voice became a symbol of resilience during the siege of Mariupol. An international businessman, philanthropist and author, @LordAshcroft has dedicated decades to documenting and honouring acts of courage. Through the Lord Ashcroft Award for Courage, he brings these extraordinary examples of bravery to the attention of the international community. A musician trained for the opera stage, Kateryna trained in first aid and volunteered as a paramedic in 2021. When Russia launched its full-scale invasion, she was in Mariupol, treating the wounded. After the hospital where she worked was destroyed, she continued saving lives in the bunkers of the Azovstal steelworks, singing Ukrainian songs to wounded and exhausted defenders. Given the chance to leave, she chose to stay. Her courage was lauded by @andrii_sybiha and Gen. David Petraeus, with @andrii_sybiha noting, “If Ptashka prevails, Ukraine will prevail as well.” #WSF2026 #WarsawSecurityForum #WSFAnnualGathering #UnitedWeStand

RT @thordiskolbrun: Russia's invasion of Ukraine has no moral grey areas. Russia is the aggressor waging an unjustifiable war of conquest and domination against its neighbour. Ukrainians are the heroic nation offering fierce resistence and defending not only their own freedom, but the rest of Europe´s, from the Kremlin's appetite for coercive power. Thousands of Ukrainian children have been killed or injured by Russian strikes. Tens of thousands have been stolen. More than a million live under terrible conditions in Russian occupied Ukraine. Millions more suffer any day from Russian attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine. They worry about their fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, who are fighting on the frontlines. Many have lost loved ones. The children of Ukraine deserve our support, and they deserve the freedom that their nation is fighting for. I was interviewed by @Slawa_tv on my role as Special Envoy of the SG of the @coe on the situation of the children of Ukraine at @WarsawForum.

The decisions made today will shape the future of Euro-Atlantic security. 🤝 Thank you to our speakers, participants and partners for contributing to two days of vital discussions. #WSF2026 #WarsawSecurityForum #NATO #Ukraine #EuropeanSecurity

RT @gmfus: GMF's @ClaudMajor joined this year's @WarsawForum to discuss European nuclear and conventional deterrence alongside @MBDAGroup CEO Éric Béranger, Advisor for Strategic Affairs and Disarmament to the President of France @Xavier_Chatel_, Destinus President @Danylyuk_O, and former UK Secretary of State for Defence (2019–2023) Sir @BenWallace70. The discussion was moderated by @FundPulaskiego Board Member @TomaszSmura. Major argued that deterrence is not only about capabilities but also about perceptions. "Do we believe our American allies will come? Does Russia believe our American allies will come?" she asked. She stressed that, in her opinion, allies must invest both in military capabilities and in cohesion to effectively deter adversaries. One possible way to strengthen deterrence, she added, would be to add an additional layer through the French "forward deterrence initiative." 🔗 Watch the panel:

RT @ChicagoCouncil: What does a more capable Europe mean for US leadership? “We may find from time to time they say, ‘Hold up. We have a different view on this,'" Council Distinguished Nonresident Fellow @Julie_C_Smith said on a transatlantic alliance panel at the 2026 @WarsawForum. "'And we are going to challenge some of what you're putting forward.’” Later that day, she joined Council President and CEO @londonvinjamuri for a session produced by the Council in partnership with the Warsaw Security Forum on how the midterm elections could make or break the NATO alliance. 📹: Warsaw Security Forum
