@WorldSpaceWeek, National Radio Centre volunteers delivered a series of exclusive talks for Bletchley Park visitors, exploring satellites, their different orbits and the vital role they play in modern communications.
Visitors enjoyed practical demonstrations showing how amateur radio operators use satellites for space communication, as well as how satellites, including the International Space Station, can be tracked and monitored using simple radio equipment or even a home computer with an internet connection.
Over three days, more than 150 people attended the talks, with many leaving inspired to continue exploring the world of space communications. Visitors were encouraged to tune in via the ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) website and listen to astronauts making live radio contact with students at Wick High School in Scotland.
