RT @signulll: apple has introduced a new input modality on the mac without demonstrating a compelling new interaction model to pair with it at all or even any meaningful changes to the user interface for touch. that has never ever happened in the history of apple, & that has got to send shivers down the spine of anyone following the company. worse, there is no face id, there is no cellular connectivity, & there is no meaningful new design. what is happening?! i am completely lost.

RT @cohere: While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected. Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions. Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent. But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models? We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem. Read the full report:

RT @ivan_8848: 🚨Brilliant interview! 💸💰💸💰💸💰💸 🚨How do banks create money ? 💸💰💸💰💸💰💸 🚨Prof Werner is incomparable. In the 5000 yr history of banking no-one has ever done an imperical study of banking to show where the money comes from- until now. Step up the rock star economist Professor Richard Werner. His amazing qualifications and held positions makes the eye water. He is truly the authority on this subject. Banks are thought of as deposit taking entities who lend money - but that is just wrong. His assessment - Banks dont lend money but they misrepresent (lie) to their customers and say that they do.

I'm an old man. These demos are quite impressive, and if reality approaches this, it could be the delivery mechanism that finally penetrates and spreads AI to the public. I also think it's going to one-shot a lot of single young people. Probably just single people.

This isn't the ringing endorsement for Monero the post makes it out to be. Jonathan Toebbe, American Navy nuclear engineer attempting to sell U.S. submarine secrets, asked to be paid in Monero. The FBI agreed to use Monero as part of the sting to catch a traitor.

"Monero, preferred by convicted traitors everywhere." Not really the expert endorsement your privacy coin wants.

It feels like what we in the Bitcoin and digital asset space have been dealing with for the past 8+ months (i.e., an increased level of AI-assisted hacks) is finally starting to come to the rest of the tech ecosystem. Brace yourselves.

Monero bros gleefully celebrating the fact that hackers prefer to use Monero over other privacy coins would be like if gun manufacturers celebrated mass shooters using their weapons. At the very least, it's bad optics.

If Turkish-Chinese fights have appeared on your timeline like they have on mine, I found this to be a good explanation for the cause.

As a connoisseur of racism, I have found no greater joy than discovering other language realms on X where they are truly light years ahead. Behold the great meme war between the Turks 🇹🇷 and Chinese 🇨🇳 which has been brewing now for 3 days! It began with a small Turkish account posting a meme of a cat wearing a straw hat + slitty eyes + wispy moustache. A Chinese user then replied with a meme of Patrick Star from SpongeBob parachuting next to the Turkish flag, with a caption along the lines of “I heard the Turkish flag was designed like this, is that true? Both were from small anonymous accounts but now has been viewed by several millions. Turks took it as mockery of a national symbol and all hell breaks lose. The broader historical and cultural pile-on on both sides were equally impressive in its deep knowledge of Ottoman / Chinese history, along with very creative vulgarity. I read one Chinese tweet calling Turkey the fleshlight of the entire world. Both sides insulted each other as “might as well be Indians.” Then it got super testy when it ventured into Turkestan/Xinjiang/Uyghur territory, and soon out came digs about the Turkish lira, China virus and other general nationalist trash talk. The next stage was the free speech Olympics. Turks started posting images of Xi Jinping and daring Chinese users to criticize him to prove that China is “free.” Chinese replies often flipped it to “you criticize Xi but none of you dare criticize Muhammad.” When no Chinese account could criticize Xi, the Turks concluded they were all bots. The latest stage has been the international expansion. Japan + Taiwan + Azerbaijan + Spain lined up with Turks against China. Japanese accounts were the most visible contingent. Taiwan joined the Turkish side for obvious reasons. Azerbaijan was in Turkic solidarity mode. South Korea and Spain too for reasons which are not clear to me. Iran + Greece + India + Egypt joined up with the Chinese against Turkey. I saw an Iranian account openly telling the Chinese to keep going and “discipline the Turks” because the Ottoman/Persian rivalry runs deep still. Greece obviously went against the Turks and as for India, who knows. Could’ve gone either way but they chose the Chinese. The whole thing, while viscous and passionate at times, has strangely left me with the warm fuzzies. Imagine how much more boring life would’ve been without @X’s auto-translate feature
