It’s taken me a while to share this, but I was genuinely touched by @Jamie4North’s kind words. Politics can be challenging, so recognition from someone in another party means a lot. Thank you, Jamie, for your kindness.

RT @ZayZee00: Really fantastic canvassing session in Thamesmead East with our MP @abenaopp. Speaking to residents, getting casework and residents reiterating their support for us across the ward 🙌🏾. #ThamesmeadEastMassive 🌹🌹🌹

Pleased to join today’s Rough Sleeping Summit at @10DowningStreet and welcome the new investment announced to end rough sleeping. As HCLG Committee Chair, I pressed the Minister on our inquiry’s recommendations and the risk that the continued LHA freeze will worsen homelessness.

Important to join Baroness Merron earlier this week in support of @BreastCancerNow's #WearItPink campaign! Today, 23 October, wear pink to help raise awareness of breast cancer. Regular checks and attending screening appointments could save lives. 💗

Delighted to visit King David Nursery in Erith. It was wonderful to meet the children and staff, and to discuss the challenges facing local nurseries and infant care in Bexley with the nursery's team. Thank you for the warm welcome.

Great to attend the #BlackHistoryMonth Parliamentary Fair this week. An important opportunity to hear from organisations working to improve representation across our society. Thanks to @DawnButlerBrent for hosting, and it was a pleasure to see Baroness Lawrence at the event.

Could your design be my Christmas card this year? 🎨🎄 Young people across Erith and Thamesmead can now enter my Christmas Card Competition 2026. Parents and schools, please encourage your young creatives to take part. Enter here 👇🏾

On Thursday, I'll be speaking in Parliament to mark #BlackHistoryMonth. I want to celebrate Black British heroes, past and present, from Erith and Thamesmead and across the UK, whose contributions deserve recognition. Who should I mention? Comment below using #BHMdebate.

Delighted to see democracy in action at St Margaret Clitherow Primary School! 🗳️ It was fantastic to oversee the pupils' Head Girl election, complete with brilliant speeches and real ballot boxes from the local council. A huge congratulations to all the girls who took part.

Organising an event in our local area? I’d be happy to help spread the word about all the great things happening in the Erith and Thamesmead constituency! Please email me any graphics or posters, along with the date, time and location. 📧 abena.oppongasare.mp@parliament.uk
