“The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 5.20 (trans. Gregory Hays)

After being here a few days, I can report that nothing ever happens in New Zealand. It hippins.

RT @sharrnat: Captain Pike aka @ansonmount will be at #Novalaide @SupanovaExpo next weekend! To welcome him to the event I've made a couple of GIFS from #StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds! Here's the first one! #StarTrek @StarTrek @StarTrekOnPPlus @ParamountPics

This was undoubtedly the right call by the Titans. But what gets me here is the depth of love Robert Saleh obviously has for the people he leads. Many other coaches would simply say “no comment”. This is leading with character and compassion. I hope Jordan takes this as a life lesson and resets things for his career and for his family. Peace, everyone. Xoxoxo

Wow. Much respect to #Titans HC Robert Saleh for explaining the DT Jordan Elliott gun situation. “My message to 31 other teams: If you need a hell of a run-stopping D-tackle that can help on a playoff run, give me a call. I'll tell you everything you need to know about him. He’s a good man. Had a terrible lapse in judgment. I recognize it as a call for help. Not a criminal act.” Watch this full answer:

This seems to have gone over well.

Voicing Batman has a side effect nobody warned me about. When my kids fight, there’s just bubbles that appear above them that say “Wham!” “Cra-ack!” and, strangely, “Boffo!”

“Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final.” - Rainer Maria Rilke “Book of Hours”

Fun interview. Thanks to Chris Gardner.

RT @Mae_DayJ: Danny Trejo's son posted this about his father's upcoming movie. It's very sad and eye opening

In my journal, I’ve begun to to write down one thing worth keeping. Not "grateful for." Keeping. A laugh. A good sandwich. A text that landed. Even bad days have something worth saving. What are you keeping from today?

I didn’t know RJ terribly well and we’d lost touch some time ago. But I knew him well enough to know that he had a beautiful soul. I mean, I don’t have to tell that to anyone who saw his work. It bled through everything he did. Clearly he was hurting. And now we’re all on social media declaring our love. Seems a tragedy that this always happens too late. See ya on the next ride, my friend. To everyone: to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline just dial 988. ❤️

RT @brockm: You don't hate the tech industry in this country enough. They are actually fucking evil as evidenced by this:

Career path so far: hammering railroad spikes in the 1860s, then flying a starship in the 2250s. Several centuries of progress and the dental insurance still sucks.

My calendar has a recurring event called 'figure out what this recurring event is for.' It's been running since March.

This is a short film called “Slaughterbots” made in 2017. It did not resonate at that time. Now it does. Watch this then think about what these tech giants are making and what it would look like if it all went wrong.

My phone's autocorrect has been with me for years and still thinks I'm constantly trying to type 'ducking.' At this point it's not a typo, it's a worldview.

I love living in Nashville. Truly. But there needs to be a grassroots movement to convince businesses here that “New Country” music is nothing but a collection of repetitive jingles written by committee (with occasional exceptions). There IS good modern country music. Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers are good examples. But you’re not likely to find them on most country station or streaming services. The industry controls the distribution and exhibition, and they have no interest in singular voices. I seem to be channeling George this morning.

Today is National Voter Registration Day. Here’s where you can check your voting status. DO IT!

Season opener is a #Superbowl rematch? Has this ever happened before? #Seahawks #Patriots #NFL
