    The secret history of America’s hidden industrial policy is so fascinating to me. The libertarians act like everything besides tariffs was a free market. RCA was set up as a Navy operation so America could rule the radio waves. An RCA researcher convinced the Tawainese to licesnce American tech, an RCA executive founded TSMC, RCA basically gave them the semiconductor technology and trained the Taiwanese on how to produce it. It was a Cold War op. But somehow we’re supposed to pretend it was all Free trade!

    There's a fun "meta" quality to this. They're not rushing to do the change. Easing into it a little bit at a time. It's a strategic move toward strategic thinking.

    I have long thought the Fed spends too much time on the immediate and not nearly enough time thinking about longer-term strategy. Great move by Chair Warsh to devote one meeting to strategy next year and two the following year.
