Public officers must always bear in mind the cliche that power is transient. They have limited time to make their modest contributions & bow out for others to continue. No one can annex public office as a personal chattel. That’s why I recoil from the razzmatazz of public office

Akwa Ibom, Sosongo! Rivers State, una do well well! What a whirlwind two days! What a reception! What an incredible show of love! From Uyo to Port Harcourt, Vice President Kashim Shettima, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and I were deeply touched by the warmth, energy and enthusiasm of our people. One thing is certain. South-South no dey carry last! In Akwa Ibom, I was pleased to see the landmark projects delivered by Governor Umo Eno, including investments in roads, aviation and tourism. The Ibom Deep Sea Port also holds enormous potential for trade, investment and jobs across the region. In Rivers State, the energy at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium was electrifying. I spoke about the progress we have made, the challenges that remain and the opportunities we are working to create for our young people. As I told our people in Port Harcourt, the 2027 election is about the future of our young people and the country we are building for them. I thank Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governors Umo Eno and Siminalayi Fubara, our party leaders, traditional rulers and the wonderful people of both states for their support and hospitality. Akwa Ibom, Sosongo! Rivers, una too much! South-South no dey carry last! This progress has no reverse gear. Nigeria, we move!

Thank you, your Excellency @atiku, for not disobeying the court order disqualifying you as Presidential Candidate of the ADC. You signed off this statement very well, simply as former Vice-President (and not Candidate of ADC). That is how a Statesman should behave and respect the Rule of Law. Be properly guided

BOLA CANNOT USE THE COURTS TO ESCAPE THE PEOPLE’S VERDICT; WE ARE ON THE BALLOT — ATIKU Fellow Nigerians, Let no one mistake the latest court ruling for the will of the Nigerian people. No manipulation, conjecture or concoction can erase our place in this contest, silence our campaign or deny Nigerians the right to choose their future. We are on the ballot, and the people must be allowed to decide. Those who boast of having thirty-two governors and claim to have bought, pressured or coerced leaders from other parties into their fold should have no reason to fear a free and fair contest. Yet, instead of presenting their record to Nigerians, they continue to deploy every tactic available to weaken the opposition: political pressure, manufactured narratives, courtroom manoeuvres and attempts to compromise the voters’ register with AI-generated photographs, false names and fictitious identities. These are not the actions of people confident in their record. They are calculated attempts to make genuine competition impossible and push Nigeria towards a one-party state. And what record do they have to defend? This government removed the fuel subsidy overnight without a plan to protect Nigerians. It presided over the steep decline of the naira and allowed food prices to rise beyond the reach of ordinary families. Factories and small businesses have shut their doors. Our young people are leaving in search of hope, while bandits and kidnappers continue to hold communities hostage. Look around you. Market stalls stand empty. Feeding your family has become a daily struggle. Fuel prices keep rising, and silent pain fills homes across the country. Those in power may want you to believe that your suffering does not matter. They may want you to surrender your future before you even reach the ballot box. Do not lose heart. Do not retreat. Your vote is your power, and together, we will take our country back. Let me be clear to every Nigerian who has stood with us: I am in this race. I am not going anywhere. We will be on the ballot. No threat, blackmail or court manoeuvre will make me abandon you or the cause we share. We will resist with all our strength every attempt to turn Nigeria into a one-party state. Nigeria belongs to all its people. Our democracy must remain open to more than one party and more than one voice. If those in power believe in their numbers and their record, let us meet at the polls in a free, fair and credible contest. Our campaign will continue. Our message on the cost of living will not be silenced or derailed. Stay calm, united and resolute. Together, we will fight for a Nigeria where life is affordable and every citizen’s vote counts. Let me say this plainly: Bola cannot use the courts to escape the judgment of Nigerians at the ballot box. Atiku Abubakar Vice President of Nigeria, 1999–2007 Sokoto, Nigeria 6 November 2026

Is this ‘attack’ evidence that the North has totally rejected ADC? No, it is not. Truth is, all political parties have their supporters and detractors. We condemn any form of attack on anyone. However, where is the APC logo on those angry youths attacking the convoy? However, if this is an attack on an APC convoy, a section of the Press and social media will ‘celebrate’ and spin it to mean the ‘masses’ in the North have ‘rejected’ the APC. We call for consistency and fairness in the way we report incidents like this.

On February 13, 2020, when the Supreme Court nullified the victory of the APC Governorship candidate in Bayelsa State, David Lyon, a day to his swearing in (when he was in fact inspecting the stadium to be used), the APC took it with equanimity on the chin. When the Supreme Court in 2019 stripped all the APC victorious candidates from top to bottom (Governor to House of Assembly) of their victories at the polls in Zamfara State and replaced them with the PDP candidates that all lost at the polls, this is what Atiku Abubakar said at the time.👇👇That judgment was against the ruling party. We took it on our chins. You cannot abuse judges and blackmail the judiciary when it doesn’t go your way. Heavens WILL NOT FALL IF A CERTAIN ATIKU ABUBAKAR IS NOT ON THE BALLOT IN 2027.

Justice may be slow, but it is always SURE! You cannot invade a political Party owned and built by Nigerians, hijack it with the connivance of a so-called National Chairman without a PRIOR meeting and approval of a mini National Convention or the National Executive Committee and hope to bluff your way out of such a brazen act by blaming and blackmailing the ruling Party for a misfortune deliberately stocked by you. Sorry, but the law is decided on facts and evidence, rather than sentiments and outrage by a group of people. It is not only when a certain ATIKU ABUBAKAR contest the Presidency that democracy is not in danger. The ADC as a Party is well and alive and populated by people and original leaders who are NO LESS Nigerians than a David Mark and his illegal band of marauders.

On a sarcastic note, the new buzz phrase ‘rig and die’ should excite all of us and we should all embrace it. The simple reason is that when those who are now trumpeting it lose woefully in a free and fair context, it will be impossible for them to hide their humiliation at the polls under the guise of ‘rigging’ as they have always done. This is because we will ask them how many ‘riggers’ they killed on the election day, because the number of those killed by them should be directly proportional to the amount of ‘rigging’ that took place! In other words, they need to show how many people they killed to prove the election was rigged!! Chai!!🤣🤣🤣🤣

After safely ferrying their children abroad, some unscrupulous politicians are encouraging hapless citizens and thugs to take up weapons to kill one another under the pretext of ‘protecting their votes’. That’s fine. Let me reiterate what late President Buhari said pre-2019 election (which I supported and I still support): when you resort to self-help and you take up dangerous weapons in the guise of ‘protecting your votes’ and you attack anybody, it is lawful and legitimate for law enforcement agents to ‘neutralise’ you or simple ‘put you down’ in the course of their duty. And the children of the politicians will be watching your foolishness from their safe haven somewhere in the world. Having been forewarned, you can then go ahead and exercise your options. CHIKENA!!

RT @aonanuga1956: PRESS STATEMENT ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL PRESIDENT TINUBU’S ELECTRICITY CAMPAIGN PLEDGE MUST BE CONSIDERED IN FULL CONTEXT At a meeting with members of the Organised Private Sector (OPS) in Lagos ahead of the 2023 general elections, then All Progressives Congress candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu spoke eloquently about how he would tackle the systemic and institutional problems that have bedevilled Nigeria's power sector for more than five decades. He specifically identified estimated billing as a major burden on households and businesses. He promised to solve the problem, along with other associated challenges in the power sector, so that Nigerians can have a stable and reliable electricity supply. His exact words at the event: "Whichever way, by all means necessary, you will have electricity, and you will not pay for estimated bills anymore. A promise made will be a promise kept. If I don’t keep the promise and I come for a second term, don’t vote for me, unless I give you adequate reasons why I couldn’t deliver.” Some recent public commentary has reproduced the campaign pledge without its concluding qualification: that should he fall short, he would owe Nigerians an adequate explanation before seeking their support for a second term. A fair assessment of the pledge should consider the full statement alongside the administration’s record since 2023. This record should be assessed against measurable improvements in electricity supply, metering, infrastructure and market stability. While fixing the power sector crisis remains unfinished, the President is working consistently to deliver on his promise to Nigerians, and his commitment to face the challenges head-on has never diminished. Within two weeks in office, President Tinubu signed the Electricity Act, 2023 on June 9. With the new Electricity Act, President Tinubu effectively liberalised and deregulated the power sector, moving it away from the Exclusive List so that the states, as subnationals, can participate in power generation, distribution, and transmission. Lagos, Enugu, Abia, Ekiti, Oyo, Kaduna and Niger have started taking advantage of the law to maximise the benefits by setting up their own electricity regulatory agencies and driving private capital into their states. President Tinubu took on the over N6 trillion legacy debt that had accumulated from 2015 to 2025. He started a Presidential Metering Initiative to close the over 7 million Metering gap. His administration significantly aligned the tariffs to cost to restore liquidity to the electricity market. He also put in place a system to protect low-income households while investment in substations and grid expansion continues. In the last three years, over 1.5 million customers have been metered under the Presidential Metering Initiative. The Rural Electrification Agency has connected universities, hospitals, and rural communities to solar power. The government has unveiled plans to modernise the Osogbo Grid Control Centre, built over 60 years ago and build an East-West super grid. The administration created a N4 trillion bond programme to settle verified legacy debts to 21 power generating companies (Gencos) and gas companies (Gascos). The first and second tranches of the bond programme have raised over N1.2 trillion to settle part of the N4 trillion verified legacy debt. President Tinubu has repositioned the power sector and reduced market risk for future investment. The impact of this intervention is becoming evident in Gencos' ability to make new investments to upgrade power plants. Just a few days ago, Geregu Power Plc announced investments in new Power Transformers to enhance operations at the Geregu 1 Power Plant. Other firms are making similar investments. President Tinubu inherited many power-sector initiatives, including the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI), which his predecessor, late President Muhammadu Buhari, started. Upon assuming office, President Tinubu reviewed the existing agreement and signed an Acceleration Agreement in December 2023 to enable FGN’s PPI and the German partners to move quickly to execute projects in the transmission network grid. By December 2024, FEC approved the contract for the first batch of 5 TCN substations in key load centres to be upgraded to enhance electricity supply to industrial and private consumers in the areas. These projects are now being completed and will be commissioned before the end of the administration's first term. In addition, in June 2026, the Federal Executive Council approved the contract for the 2nd batch of projects to build eight new substations and upgrade 4 existing ones in targeted load centres. Power project implementation requires equipment that is a long-lead item and thus cannot be achieved overnight. President Tinubu quickly identified that unlocking the power sector requires resolving commercial challenges: Operators need to charge cost-reflective tariffs, while electricity must remain affordable for most of the population. Marrying these two contrasting objectives requires careful planning and policy formulation. A first step was creating Service Bands with different tariffs to improve the financial viability of the Distribution companies and improve cash flow in the sector. This has also reduced the government's financial burden related to tariff subsidies. The administration will continue to explore ways to improve the commercial situation of the power sector while protecting access to electricity for the less privileged in society. Fixing the electricity market and power sector is ongoing work. President Tinubu has not deviated an inch from his commitment. As he seeks Nigerians' mandate for a second term in office, he will proudly present his scorecard in the power sector and clearly tell Nigerians what remains to be done. With an angry @Republicans caucus in control of Congress until January 2027 and emboldened congressional @TheDemocrats preparing to investigate President Bola Tinubu's mining MOU, the Nigerian Presidency (@officialABAT) picked the wrong time to pull off its latest alleged attempt to rig the upcoming Nigerian presidential election. Apparently scared by yesterday's turnout in support of former Nigerian Vice President @atiku Abubakar, who happens to be President Tinubu's main political opponent, Tinubu's officials reportedly met last night, and the result of that meeting is allegedly this highly suspicious court ruling. We are gathering more information and will be engaging with senior members of the @realDonaldTrump administration, as well as Republicans and Democrats in Congress. The alleged actions of President Tinubu risk pushing Nigeria closer to political unrest, with dire consequences for U.S. interests and regional stability.
