Rising geopolitical conflict across the world is driving countries in multiple regions to establish new bilateral currency swap facilities. In the Middle East, the UAE has extended a new local-currency (dirham) swap line to Bahrain—whose debt has surged owing to a drop in oil revenues from Iran’s attacks in the Strait of Hormuz. Russia—financially constrained by sharply curtailed access to the SWIFT global cross-border payments system since its 2022 invasion of Ukraine—has established a new swap line with Kazakhstan. Since the financial crisis of 2007, central banks around the world have entered into a multitude of bilateral currency swap agreements with one another. These agreements allow a central bank in one country to exchange currency, usually its domestic currency, for a certain amount of foreign currency. The recipient central bank can then lend this foreign currency on to its domestic banks, on its own terms and at its own risk. #The_Two_Most_Dangerous_Months Events far more dangerous and consequential than you can imagine are about to unfold. In Ukraine, Kyiv will fall to Russia, and events will unfold that will go beyond even the use of a tactical nuclear weapon. In Iran, the USS Roosevelt is expected to arrive. It will be hit by a devastating strike involving a special weapon. This is part of a plan that is not intended to topple the Iranian regime at this stage, but rather to provoke it into retaliating, launching a ground offensive, and invading Bahrain and Kuwait, while unleashing a devastating bombardment of the UAE and Qatar. The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) will invade Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The Wall Street Journal has reported, citing Iranian officials, that Iran is considering a ground operation in the Gulf. The government of Oman has instructed its citizens to stockpile drinking water and food supplies sufficient for an entire year. Qatar’s emir has warned his citizens and urged them to prepare for the worst-case scenarios. European countries that have announced security preparedness plans so far include Switzerland, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The European Union itself has launched a strategy called the Union of Preparedness, urging people across EU member states to prepare emergency supplies sufficient for 72 hours. As for Syria, the weakest link in this chain, al-Sharaa has begun to suspect that he has been deceived. The United States has abandoned him, and Israel backed away from a comprehensive agreement with him at the last moment, despite his having implemented all the terms of the agreement ahead of the Deterrence of Aggression offensive. Just wait until you see what we’re going to do with Iran.” For the record, Trump’s statements may be contradictory, but what he said today reflects the decision of the deep state.
