Hi #CoreMaths teachers. I've just uploaded 4 new What the Graph resources to the website: They are designed to be an easy way to do some critical analysis of graphs. I use them as a 5-minute starter. Each has a graph to project and teacher notes. Enjoy!

Teaching correlation and regression in #CoreMaths. I will never forgive Casio for bringing out 3 models of calculator with a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT set of steps for every function 😩 Every new thing now has to be taught 3 ways. Ughhh. I used to enjoy teaching this topic 😆

A bit of editing and reshuffling but my core maths booklet for confidence intervals is (mostly) complete. This has been so helpful in understanding what order to teach it in and what they need to know. Taken hours #coremaths #coremathschat

In #CoreMaths I like to start the year with a lesson on using news articles to do some estimation or data calculations, to get the students talking and thinking about "real world" maths. Here are some recent news stories that I'm planning on using this year:

#CoreMaths I made a booklet with average UK salary information (12 pages, so can be printed in A5 booklets on 3 sheets) - good for calculating income tax, national insurance and student loan repayments, where students can pick a job that interests them 🙂

I've made some "walk through" slides for the AQA #CoreMaths preliminary material, with prompts for students to highlight/discuss the data. I'm not sharing it publicly as it contains extracts from the material, so DM if you're a teacher and would like a copy (no students, please)

Stem and Leaf diagrams. What's the point? Does anyone have ANY examples of these being used in any real situation outside of a textbook or maths exam? #CoreMaths

I've turned this into a PowerPoint and added more news stories from the summer. The articles are in Word documents that can be printed 2-Up and double-sided to fit on one side of A4 😊 #CoreMaths
