#Qatar was #Egypt’s largest foreign investor in the last fiscal year, contributing around USD 3.8 billion of the USD 18 billion in foreign direct investment (#FDI) the country received, according to Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid Saleh.
Speaking to Doha News at the @UNCTAD in #Doha, Saleh said bilateral investment ties between Qatar and Egypt span real estate development and #tourism, including hotel construction to accommodate Egypt’s growing tourist demand. The two countries are also exploring opportunities in the industrial sector.
Saleh added that discussions on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement [#CEPA] between Egypt and Qatar are in their final stages, following a high-level joint committee meeting in August attended by officials from both countries, including representatives from the foreign affairs, finance, investment, and health ministries.
The proposed agreement aims to further strengthen economic cooperation and bilateral trade.
