Do you want to work with #Java14, but don't know why or how?
Check out the screencast on how to use #Java14 language features with #IntelliJIDEA 2020.1, using a ton of examples:
#Java14 is introducing multiple language changes.
Check out this blog post to know how you can use all the new #Java14 language features in #IntelliJIDEA 2020.1:
To unleash their potential, use these features in combination with other features.
#PatternMatching in #Java14 extends the instanceof operator with a type test pattern.

Sometimes (e.g. during TDD) we define what our classes look like by using them, and then have IntelliJ IDEA generate the correct code. IntelliJ IDEA 2020.1 lets us generate a #Java14 Record, either in its own file or as an inner class

IntelliJ IDEA 2020.1 goes Beta, with support for #Java14, Dataflow analysis in the debugger, LightEdit mode, and so much more! Check out this video overview:
IntelliJ IDEA 2020.1 (currently EAP) not only supports the new #Java14 Record syntax, but can generate new record classes for you to help you get started. Try it now! (download #Java 14:

Did you know? Accessor methods for #Java14's Record classes don't start with the word "get"! IntelliJ IDEA 2020.1 does the right thing when generating "getters" for record classes, in case you want to add any logic to the accessors.

If we want to change the name of a #Java14 Record component, we can use the rename refactoring in IntelliJ IDEA 2020.1 to make sure all the accessor methods are also correctly updated

Since Records are a new Preview Feature in #Java14 we might not be familiar with the syntax. IntelliJ IDEA 2020.1 can help, for example allowing us to switch between the new compact constructor form and a canonical constructor. Try it!

We can use Inline Variable with #Java14's Pattern Matching to see what the code looks like with casting instead. If we use Extract Variable on a cast, IntelliJ IDEA will automatically use the new pattern matching syntax if appropriate

And I just realized that #Java14 local records provide you a very neat way to create a private namespace for statics! E.g. see a new flavor of initialization-on-demand holder idiom. Now nobody sees the Holder, even other methods of the Singleton class! What a time to be alive!
