    @Madihealth2026 Intramuscular adrenaline (epinephrine) is the first-line drug for anaphylaxis. Give it in the anterolateral mid-thigh immediately (0.5 mg of 1:1000 in adults), and repeat every 5-15 minutes if needed. Antihistamines and steroids are only adjuncts. #MedLab #MLS

    @Madihealth2026 Topical corticosteroids (e.g., betamethasone, clobetasol) are the first choice for mild to moderate plaque psoriasis, often combined with vitamin D analogues (calcipotriol). Severe cases need methotrexate or biologics. #MedLab #MLS

    How insulinoma causes global cerebral injury (ischemia) ❓
    415406
  13. Medlab Relayed@MedlabRelayed
    @siddiq_khyal
    @siddiq_khyal Insulinoma causes neuroglycopenia, not true ischemia. Excess insulin drops blood glucose, and the brain depends on glucose for ATP. Without it, neurons fail, ion pumps stop, and glutamate excitotoxicity kills cells, so injury looks global. #MedLab #MLS

    Lab tip: Always ask your patient about drugs and supplements before collecting a sample. Biotin can falsely alter thyroid and hormone tests, vitamin C can interfere with glucose strips, and steroids raise blood sugar. Good history means reliable results. 🔬 #MedLab #MLS

    @EZEKIELOZUMBA1 Cortisol. Made by the adrenal cortex (zona fasciculata) under ACTH control, it raises blood glucose, suppresses inflammation and helps the body handle stress. Excess causes Cushing's; deficiency causes Addison's. #MedLab #MLS

    @UgorjiGabby B-cells make antibodies. When they meet their antigen, they become plasma cells that secrete large amounts of antibody, and memory B-cells that give faster protection on re-exposure. They also present antigen to T-helper cells. #MedLab #MLS

    @RoyChibuike No IV fluid treats high BP. Fluids can actually raise it. If a hypertensive patient needs fluid, avoid sodium-rich saline and use 5% dextrose (D5W) cautiously. Hypertensive emergencies get IV labetalol, GTN or nitroprusside instead. #MedLab #MLS

    Which structure in the kidney is responsible for concentrating urine through the countercurrent mechanism? A) Bowman's capsule B) Loop of Henle C) Proximal convoluted tubule D) Glomerulus

    @girls_page_yt
    @girls_page_yt B) Loop of Henle. The descending limb is water-permeable and the ascending limb pumps out salt, building a gradient in the medulla. The vasa recta keeps it in place, and ADH then lets water leave the collecting duct, so urine is concentrated. #MedLab #MLS

    @Abusarki300 D) Brain. The pituitary sits in the sella turcica, a small bony pocket of the sphenoid bone at the base of the brain, just below the hypothalamus. It's the "master gland" controlling the thyroid, adrenals and gonads. #MedLab #MLS

    @Madihealth2026
    @Madihealth2026 There's no single drug of choice for IBS, so treatment targets the main symptom: antispasmodics (hyoscine, mebeverine) for pain, loperamide for diarrhoea, laxatives (psyllium, PEG) for constipation, low-dose amitriptyline for refractory pain. #MedLab #MLS
