Before an assistant reads a word of yours, it has already been told who it is.
A system prompt. A published constitution or model spec. A "persona" block the agent rewrites itself.

Evolution built it last, on top of everything else it remembered. #AI gets it first, written by someone else.
Neither version gets checked.
People are no better at this. 83% of students said they'd buy a charity daffodil. They guessed 56% of their classmates would. 43% did.
We forecast others reasonably well. Ourselves, badly.
The twist: a model can be scored on predictions about itself. In one study, models predicted their own behavior better than other models trained on that behavior — on simple tasks, at least.
The raw material exists. The loop doesn't. No persona block is written as a prediction.
The repair is the strangest idea in the series: give the agent a bond with itself. Write identity as a claim about behavior. Let the record grade it, not the narrator. Contest it slowly.
Open what your agent is told about itself. Find one sentence the next session could prove wrong.
A self that predicts nothing is a script.
