For nearly 3 years, I walked into my pain clinic with my hair done, my face beat, and a smile. I looked healthy. I talked about opening my small business. And I pretended I was okay. I WASN’T. I was terrified that being honest about my suffering could cost me the treatment I depended on. Then September 16 happened. 4 weeks earlier, a receptionist said my provider would be “on vacation” and booked me with a temporary physician elsewhere. At that appointment, HE told me she’d RESIGNED and had given notice before my last visit. She knew and said NOTHING. Other patients were blindsided. I’d dreaded that appointment. I was terrified; my blood pressure and heart rate spiked. My worst fears came true. He called my established 105 MME regimen “shocking,” said I was “lucky” to be alive, and discussed slashing it to 45 MME over my tiny, once-nightly dose of clonazepam. A 57% CUT?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Then he brought up another cervical RFA. BRO. REALLY?! I’ve had 50+ spinal procedures from 2019–23, including RFAs that worsened my pain. 3 surgeons advised against fusion, and a spinal cord stimulator was denied because it wasn’t indicated for the neck. HOW MANY TIMES MUST I SAY NO? 3 days later, I received a voicemail saying the medical director thought my regimen “should be good for now.” WOW. How reassuring. NOT. Then another temporary physician, another location. She seemed more concerned about her license and getting in trouble than my well-being or quality of life. She wanted to check with my pharmacy about an established regimen it already dispenses. Then my November appointment had to be rescheduled because no physician was available. I call this MEDICAL TRAFFICKING. And patients deserve better than this. I felt like a liability nobody wanted to deal with. Where were the questions about my sleep, function, or quality of life? It reopened my medical PTSD from forced opioid withdrawal in 2023. THIS is what living with chronic pain has looked like behind closed doors. For YEARS, I’ve woken up feeling like I have the FLU: severe DOMS-like aches, headaches, stiffness, and exhaustion. Sleep doesn’t restore me. Pain interrupts it all night. I’m EXHAUSTED FROM SLEEPING. 10 years ago, I could get ready and leave home in 90 minutes. Now it takes 3–4 HOURS just to function enough for the day. I rarely leave home. I wait for medication to work, make my low-histamine breakfast, do dishes and PT, and struggle to get dressed. I’m 39 y/o! Some mornings I can barely lift my leg into my pants. Socks and shoes make me grunt in pain. BASIC HUMAN THINGS. Is this another part of myself I have to grieve? By then I’m spent. I struggle to maintain my home, work on my small business—whose launch I’ve delayed repeatedly—or get to the gym. Even exercise bites me in the ass when my sleep won’t let me recover. I’m trying to live, but my days revolve around surviving. Then a wonderful friend and great chronic pain advocate connected me with a palliative care physician who lives with chronic pain himself. I told him the truth about my days. He listened and said, “That’s not function.” FINALLY. SOMEONE UNDERSTOOD. The chaplain also recognized how isolated I’ve become. My new physician discussed my MCAS, my former Illinois physician’s suspicion of rapid medication metabolism, and adjusting coverage around my needs. The goal? Pain closer to 4/10. 4/10. I WOULD LOVE TO BE AT A 4. I voluntarily left the clinic yesterday after making arrangements privately for weeks. No more monthly 200 mile trips or mandatory monthly urine screens. The new plan is telehealth and 3–4 screens a year. I’m cautiously hopeful. Medical PTSD doesn’t vanish overnight. But I no longer want to pretend I’m okay just to feel safe receiving care. I AM NOT AN MME NUMBER. I AM A HUMAN BEING. I don’t expect to be pain-free. I want my dignity, some comfort in my own body, and the chance to work, sleep, and participate in society. I WANT TO LIVE, NOT MERELY SURVIVE.💔2525845

In Romania, the 🏳️🌈🇪🇺“great coalition” continues. #PSD remains in Bolojan’ government, side by side with #PNL & #USR, the most globalist anti-Romanian political party here. EPP, Renew & Socialists all together in the 🇷🇴government, just like in @vonderleyen’ Comission.11010266222.8K- Show more posts
