Come for the view, stay for the goats...
Since the SR 504 bridge was destroyed by a landslide in May of 2023, the U.S. Forest Service Johnstone Ridge Observatory (JRO) at Mount St. Helens has been inaccessible to vehicles. Although people can access the area by hiking trail, no drive-up access has resulted in very low human visitation. But, mountain goats are another story.
The 1980 eruption killed the few resident mountain goats around Mount St. Helens. However, 46 years later, the blasted rocky hillsides are full of shrubs and wildflowers, creating the perfect mountain goat habitat, and the population is thriving. Scientists were recently up at JRO and were startled to see five goats watching them from the roof of the building. Don't worry, mountain goats are very good at balancing on high ledges.
Cascades Volcano Observatory Weekly Update for November 6, 2026: All Cascade volcanoes were at normal background levels of activity for the last week. Over the past week, small earthquakes were detected at Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Three Sisters. Field crews performed maintenance at Mount St. Helens.

#ICYMI A fifth alien was charged for illegally voting in Nevada. Mariela Delia Mendoza, an Argentine national and lawful permanent U.S. resident living in Las Vegas, illegally voted in a federal election despite not being a U.S. citizen. There is no escaping the truth: Justice will find you. Learn more:
We wish you a delightfully happy Halloween! 🎃
From relentless pursuers to tall ladies, Resident Evil has an abundance of scares for everyone. What are some of your favorite monsters in the series?
JAMAICAN NATIONAL ARRESTED FOLLOWING 22 YEARS OF ALLEGED ILLEGAL VOTING
ICE arrested Antonio Mitchell, a Jamaican national and lawful permanent resident accused of illegally voting in U.S. elections between 2000 and 2022, despite NOT being an American citizen.
Mitchell allegedly registered to vote in New Jersey by falsely claiming U.S. citizenship and cast a ballot in the 2022 federal election. He then allegedly LIED about his voting history on his citizenship application and during multiple immigration interviews.
ONLY eligible voters have the right to cast ballots in American elections. Those who knowingly violate federal election laws will face justice.
UPDATE: Citizen auditors report that Burnet County began its hand-count audit today.
The later deadline is not a prohibition on starting early.
Under §127.201(b-2), when a statewide risk-limiting audit is performed, the hand-count audit must begin no later than the first business day after SOS certifies the RLA’s completion.
Contact your county elections office and ask:
• When will the hand-count audit begin, and where is the public notice?
• Which polling locations and mail-ballot precincts were selected?
• Which ballot containers have been opened, and were seal numbers and resealing documented?
• Were observers present, and how can candidates and their representatives observe?
An important change: in-person ballots are now audited by polling location; mail ballots remain audited by precinct.
The in-person audit should not require opening unrelated containers simply to retrieve selected resident precincts’ ballots.
Watch the process. A matching hand count checks the tabulation of the paper presented; it does not, by itself, establish that the paper is original and lawfully cast.

📣TALLY TEXAS AUDIT
This is the first Texas election where the post-election hand count audit doesn't have to start within 72 hours.
Under the old rule it had to begin by tonight. Now it can wait until Nov 23, after every county race is certified. 🧵

Karin L. Contreras, 45, a citizen of the Dominican Republic and a U.S. lawful permanent resident, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 27 months in prison in connection with her role in a scheme that attempted to defraud unemployment insurance programs during the COVID‑19 pandemic of more than $1 million, announced @USAttyPirro.
I have seen the initial election results this morning, and while I am encouraged, it is still very early. Counting continues, and we must allow the IEC to complete its work.
That said, I want to sincerely thank every resident of Tshwane who came out yesterday to vote, and especially those who placed their trust in me. I am deeply grateful for your support.
In the meantime, until the IEC officially declares the results, I remain the Executive Mayor of Tshwane, and my responsibility to the residents of our capital continues.
I will be returning to Bronkhorstspruit today to check on progress with the rehabilitation of the water treatment works and efforts to restore safe drinking water.
Whatever the election outcome, my commitment to serving the people of Tshwane remains.
Thank you, Tshwane. 💚
