Here you are, Richard. Your own newspaper knew and reported that Meghan had retained her own American advisers even after marrying Harry. So are you now going to discredit your own newspaper’s reporting by pretending she was some helpless maiden, entirely controlled by KP or BP, but somehow obediently silent on the one issue where silence happened to benefit her? The problem wasn’t that Meghan was advised to keep quiet. And, by the way, this letter you’ve all seen clearly doesn’t contain the detail needed to take the story any further, or you’d have been publishing it long before now. The problem wasn’t that Meghan was loudly briefing the media that she wouldn’t be controlled and couldn’t be controlled. You cannot spend years cultivating an image of a woman who answers to nobody, retains her own advisers and operates her own communications strategy, and then expect us to believe she was powerless when it comes to the one narrative that suits her most.
