The Potemkin Party continues to double down on its campaign of war and unremitting hostility against Eritrea by dwelling on revisionist historical narratives and the deplorable denigration of Eritrea's legitimate, decades-old, process of decolonization achieved through unparalleled and precious sacrifices. In this vein, one of PP's official mouthpieces - Fana Broadcasting Corporation - disparages, on its X account today, Eritrea's overall development policy and what it dubs as "stagnation of Assab". Furthermore, it laments the loss of "Ethiopia's Red Sea coastline", due, in its warped mind, "to conspiracy of external adversaries". These pitiful diatribes are symptomatic of the incurable war psychosis that has gripped the Potemkin Party for years now. Indeed, it is obvious that the PP will require massive reconfiguration in its mindset/soft-ware for reason and sanity to prevail. As it is, the antidote for its multi-layered malaise does not lie in the propagation of revisionist history; and/or in the flagrant violation of foundational pillars and principles of international law. The fact is: 1. A regime that is presiding over an ailing economy where 68.7% of the population are classified as "multidimensionally poor" (WB terminology) in spite of massive international assistance; and, 2. That is seething under interminable internal costly conflicts of its own making; is not in a position to pontificate to its neighbours about astute development policy or the fostering of good-neighborly ties anchored on mutual respect of each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Amid #Ethiopia’s #RedSea access tensions, #UN #AntónioGuterres urged respect for international law and #UNCLOS, saying law must prevail over force, with maritime deals based on peace and consent, not threats to #Eritrea’s 🇪🇷 or any nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“THE FORCE OF LAW MUST PREVAIL OVER THE LAW OF FORCE” #UN CHIEF SENDS A STRONG MESSAGE AMID RED SEA TENSIONS António Guterres reaffirms international law as Ethiopia’s pursuit of maritime access raises concerns over regional sovereignty and stability. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has delivered a firm message on violations of international law, emphasizing that no country's ambitions can justify actions that contradict established legal principles. Responding to a question about maritime disputes and Ethiopia's tensions with neighboring countries, Guterres made the UN's position clear: “Violations of international law are unacceptable.” Addressing maritime issues, the Secretary-General pointed to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), stressing that actions incompatible with the convention must not be accepted or respected. His statement reinforces a fundamental principle at the heart of international relations: countries must pursue their interests within the boundaries of international law, not through coercion, threats, or the use of force. Eritrea's sovereignty is not negotiable The remarks carry particular significance amid rising tensions surrounding Ethiopia's pursuit of Red Sea access and concerns about the potential threat to Eritrea's territorial integrity. Access to the sea can be pursued through peaceful commercial arrangements and agreements with neighboring states. But geographical circumstances or economic ambitions do not grant any country the right to threaten another nation's sovereignty or coastline. The Red Sea is a shared strategic waterway not territory that can be claimed through intimidation. Eritrea's sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected, just as the sovereignty of every nation must be protected under international law. Any sustainable maritime arrangement must be grounded in peaceful negotiations, mutual consent, and respect for the rights of all parties. International law must stand above military power Guterres extended the principle beyond maritime disputes, reaffirming that violations of international law must not be tolerated wherever they occur. His closing message captured the stakes in a powerful phrase: “We must make sure that the force of the law prevails over the law of the force.” For the Horn of Africa, where regional rivalries and security concerns threaten to undermine stability, this principle is essential. Military threats cannot replace diplomacy, and political ambitions cannot override international obligations. The choice facing the region is straightforward: respect international law and pursue cooperation, or risk turning disputes into dangerous confrontations. No nation is above the law. No ambition justifies aggression. And no country's sovereignty should become the price of another country's strategic ambitions. The future of the Horn of Africa must be built on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and the rule of law not the law of the strongest. #Eritrea #Ethiopia #AntónioGuterres #UnitedNations #RedSea #UNCLOS #InternationalLaw #HornOfAfrica #Sovereignty #PeaceAndSecurity

We will not allow any landlocked state to gain access to the #RedSea—though facilities in Eritrea or #Somalia could be leased under terms mutually agreed upon by us and those nations—nor will we permit any illicit activities. We will strike any target, whether at sea or in the air; we will not tolerate aggression against #Eritrea, Somalia, or #Djibouti, nor will we allow the partition of any of these countries. #Ethiopia is pursuing colonial ambitions, yet the era of colonialism has passed, and these are sovereign states. We will trample #Israel's covert plan underfoot.

If the #RedSea coastal states request your help in safeguarding their security, that is one thing. Otherwise, it is their sole responsibility. As for the Horn of Africa (HOA), Ethiopia🇪🇹 is hardly in a position to lecture others about regional security and peace, especially when your country is contributing to regional instability. Isn’t Ethiopia hosting the #RSF, which is destroying Sudan🇸🇩? Which country is constantly threatening Eritrea🇪🇷? And isn’t your country undermining Somalia’s🇸🇴 sovereignty by threatening to unilaterally recognize #Somaliland, in violation of international law? This forum is therefore surrounded by hypocrisy when it comes to #Ethiopia claiming to be concerned about the security of the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa. Instead, focus on fixing your own country and saving it from ethnic cleansing and disintegration.

The Tana Forum’s Special Envoys’ Dialogue officially commenced today in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, bringing together high-level diplomats and regional leaders to discuss the evolving geopolitics of the Horn of Africa and the growing security challenges in the Red Sea. In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Redwan Huseen, Director General of Ethiopia’s National Intelligence and Security Service, underscored that the region’s vast economic potential and critical maritime trade routes are increasingly threatened by growing militarization, rivalries among foreign powers, and renewed attacks on commercial shipping in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. He emphasized that Red Sea security cannot be ensured by a few states alone, but requires urgent and collective cooperation among regional states and reliable global partners. As an anchor state entirely dependent on the Red Sea for its maritime trade, Ethiopia has a vital responsibility to safeguard its commercial shipping and avert emerging security threats, he added. Following the opening remarks, high-level panel discussions are underway under the theme “Regional Security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.” Moderated by Paul-Simon Handy, Regional Director for East Africa and Representative to the African Union, the panel brought together prominent African and international envoys to discuss the region’s evolving geopolitical dynamics. The speakers included Getachew Reda, Minister Advisor on East African Affairs; Guang Cong, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa; Frédéric Clavier, French Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa; Ambassador Heiko Nitzschke, Germany’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa; and Pekka Haavisto, Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Sudan. The 12th Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa is being held under the theme “Pathways to Peace in Africa: Economic Sovereignty and Geopolitical Transformation,” bringing together regional and international stakeholders to address Africa’s evolving security landscape.
