For 15 years, the Kurds fought and defeated one of the most dangerous terrorist organizations in the world: ISIS. The Kurds sacrificed more than 15,000 martyrs and over 20,000 wounded in the fight against this terrorist group. The Kurds did not only save themselves from ISIS; they helped save the entire world. For the past year, a senior member of al-Qaeda—directly supported by Turkey—has come to power in Syria. Since taking control, he has threatened the lives of Kurdish civilians on their own land, while the world remains silent. We are being told to live under their rule, despite the fact that they follow a jihadist ideology, which we reject and do not want. Is it not time for the Kurds to demand their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Kurdistan?

Over the past weeks, with the onset of genocide against the Kurdish people in Rojava, northern Syria, I have been acting through every means at my disposal. As someone who believes deeply in human rights, justice, and the moral responsibility of the international community, I cannot stand by in silence while a people face systematic killing, displacement, and destruction. One of the most important and effective tools available to us at this critical moment is signing a public petition calling on U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham to take action—by advancing legislation and using his full influence to help stop the killing, violence, and forced displacement of the Kurdish people from their homeland. This is an urgent call for political, moral, and humanitarian action—one that has the potential to save lives. The Kurdish people have, time and again, demonstrated extraordinary courage, resilience, and loyalty in the fight against extremist terrorism, paying a heavy price in blood. Silence from the free world at this decisive moment would represent a grave moral failure. Signing this petition sends a clear message: we will not accept genocide, we will not tolerate forced displacement, and we will not abandon those facing existential danger.
