It's been on the Derelict Sites Register since 2011🏚️
Leaving properties derelict for decades should be a crime against the state. Owners of derelict and vacant properties must either use them or lose them. Ireland faces a housing emergency, with homelessness reaching a record 15,378 people—including 4,653 children. Of the 2,185 families experiencing homelessness, more than half are single-parent households. Local Authorities should all be forced to use their extensive Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) powers to acquire these derelict and vacant properties, which can then be sold on the open market for affordable residential use. The 33% capital gains tax generated from CPO sales should fund further acquisitions.
