So much of being a tech writer is knowing how to pull information from engineers through skillful questions. What works well for me: Write a draft and intersperse it with various questions in the margins so that there's more context for the engineer. #techcomm
I had the goal of getting my #OER textbook Business Writing For Everyone into teachable shape by my birthday, and today I finished it. It'll be launched in in Summer after I get student feedback from next semester & work with some collaborators. #TechComm
Does anyone know the origin of the term "docs as code" or what popularized it? I feel like it's been around for 4-5 years, but I don't have a great sense for where it originally came from, or if it just came from ether since it is mostly descriptive?

We are pleased (and excited) to announce that @uwtacoma is hiring a Director of Writing and Professor (Open-rank) of Writing Studies:

Fun question for my #techcomm peeps:
How do you define technical writing and/or technical communication? Or what scholar/ship do you draw upon to frame your understanding?
(Maybe if I get a bunch of answers, I'll design buttons again...)
JOB ALERT! We are hiring a TT Assistant Professor in #techcomm. 2/2 load in our Tech Writing & Professional Design minor and grad courses for English MA & PhD students. Lots of room to innovate and create in community. #medrhet#sigdoc@ATTWorg@cptscorg
Here's one indicator that docs are poor: the writer doesn't attempt to organize the content in any coherent narrative but rather has an endless and randomly ordered list of FAQs. #techcomm
Hellooo #techcomm folks!! I am teaching technical/scientific writing for the first time ever this semester and I’m doing it online! What are some good activities my students can do virtually?? I have a syllabus I need to follow but need activity and lecture ideas!!
I said I'd share the finished assignment package for my advanced #TechComm#BusinessComm course for non-majors, so here it is, in case it's useful to anyone. All assignments are CC-BY-NC-SA.
there's nothing more demotivating than realizing that you just sacrificed a weekend working on docs for a deadline that was later pushed out a couple of weeks. #techcomm
