STOP SOIL EROSION BEFORE IT STEALS YOUR FARM’S PROFIT!
Soil erosion is not just an environmental problem—it is an economic loss for farmers.
When rain washes away fertile topsoil, farmers lose valuable nutrients, land productivity can decline, and the cost of maintaining soil fertility may increase.
Practical solutions include planting cover crops, using grass strips, applying mulch, practicing contour farming, and planting trees where appropriate.
Protecting the soil today means protecting tomorrow’s harvest and income.

Shame on you @Google.
You preach “don’t be evil” while illegally clear-cutting 250,000 trees in Finland for a data center—turning ancient forest into a mud wasteland without even doing the required environmental checks.
Tech giant. Nature zero.

The White House and President Trump are taking a major victory lap after a new study claims that paper straws are worse for the environment than their plastic counterparts.
Paper straws were supposed to be the environmentally friendly alternative to plastic, but a new study finds they release six times the amount of carcinogens than plastic straws and contribute to twice as much environmental acidification.
Trump has long criticized paper straws and the environmental policies he calls the "Green New Scam." In February 2025, he signed an executive order directing the federal government to stop purchasing paper straws and develop a strategy to eliminate their use.
Climate change has largely receded from the Democratic party’s discourse.

🇧🇸 As Patron of The Bahamas National Trust, King Charles is visiting Bonefish Pond National Park in New Providence.
The visit will highlight one of the Bahamas' environmental restoration & climate-resilience projects, while also demonstrating the vulnerability of low-lying island communities to climate change & the importance of effective environmental stewardship.
His Majesty have an opportunity to see first-hand the restoration of the Park's unique wetland ecosystem & hear from those involved in its protection, management, conservation & education.
NEW: A U.S. startup's plan to deploy up to 50,000 satellites capable of reflecting sunlight onto Earth at night is facing growing opposition from astronomers and environmental groups.
Reflect Orbital recently demonstrated the concept near Mount Whitney, California, using powerful ground-based lights to illuminate desert terrain during nighttime search-and-rescue exercises.
The company plans to launch its first experimental orbital mirror, equipped with a 59-foot reflector, to test directing sunlight toward selected locations on Earth.
Potential applications include emergency response, extending solar energy production after sunset and illuminating remote areas.
However, environmental groups have petitioned the FCC to reconsider its authorization, warning that artificial nighttime illumination could disrupt wildlife, human sleep and astronomical observations.
Reflect Orbital says it is working with scientists and regulators to minimize potential impacts and avoid sensitive locations.
The California test simulated the technology using terrestrial spotlights. Sunlight delivery from orbit has not yet been demonstrated.

JUST IN: A California space startup has illuminated a section of desert near Mount Whitney at night, demonstrating how future satellites could deliver sunlight to Earth on demand.
Reflect Orbital conducted the October 10 test using powerful ground-based spotlights to simulate sunlight redirected from orbit by large reflective mirrors.
Working with China Lake Mountain Rescue, the company illuminated terrain across roughly three miles, allowing rescue teams to conduct nighttime searches, stretcher carries and other emergency-response exercises.
Reflect Orbital ultimately wants to deploy satellites capable of directing sunlight toward specific areas on Earth after sunset, potentially supporting emergency operations and extending electricity generation at solar farms.
The company received FCC authorization in July for its first experimental satellite, Eärendil-1, which will use an 18-meter reflector to test the concept from orbit.
The October demonstration used ground-based lighting. No orbital mirror has yet demonstrated the proposed capability.

It doesn’t have to be this way.”

Most recycling is a waste
Many countries ask households to sort rubbish into lots of bins. But does recycling more always help? In The Wall Street Journal, I argue that target rates have displaced the question that matters: whether the environmental benefits justify the costs.

SOIL DEGRADATION IS NOT ONLY AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM. IT IS AN ECONOMIC COST.
Eroded and depleted soil can reduce productivity and increase the resources farmers need to maintain yields.
Protecting soil through erosion control, suitable crop rotations, and responsible nutrient management helps preserve the productive capacity of farmland.
Healthy soil is natural capital—and protecting it is a long-term investment.
Should soil conservation be treated as an essential farm expense? Why?
