At @LHCbExperiment we do not have many null results - searches that do not find anything and thus set limits on the production rate of the searched for particle (or decay of a particle). Here's one example. #thread #XiccPuzzle #NullResult
    LHCb Physics @LHCbPhysics
Search for the doubly charmed baryon Ξ⁺cc. - No significant signal is observed in the mass range from 3.4 to 3.8 GeV/c².

#CMSpaper 1024: Is it possible for the Higgs boson to decay to a photon and an undetectable particle? Such a particle could be the Dark-matter connected sibling of the photon (called Dark Photon). This #nullresult is the first time such a search was done!

Very proud of this paper that just came out! We delve into interethnic exposure in Hungarian schools where discrimination of Roma children is rampant. #soctwitter

In this pre-registered and large study (> 2000 students in 39 schools) we find that neither manipulating the closeness of interethnic exposure between students within classrooms nor variation in ethnic composition across grade levels affects antiminority discrimination.

We speculate that the domains of contact and conflict theory are much narrower than previously thought as most positive findings are from settings with forced co-residence and most negative findings are from observational studies. #nullresult

#CMSPaper 1230: This paper searches for undetectable particles in signatures with quarks, gluons, Higgs bosons and photons. It's a #NullResult, but it is sensitive to #supersymmetry partners of the Higgs boson, W/Z boson (worlds best!) ... and graviton!

#CMSpaper 993: New and SM Higgs bosons. Are there new Higgs bosons? This #nullresult looks for two identical new Higgs bosons that come from a Standard Model Higgs boson decay, looking for something very rare: Higgs bosons decaying to two muons or two taus

New paper out about a large, long-term study on the impact of #AAL technologies on seniors, showing… nothing. We report a #NullResult and offer some critical methodological reflections on RCTs with technology.

#CMSPaper 1206: scalar top quarks (aka squarks) are hypothetical particles from #supersymmetry. This #nullresult (we see even fewer collisions than expected!) searches for cases where those squarks create signatures with b/light quarks and missing energy.

I study rare decays of particles containing b quarks, but it's also worth investigating decays of charmed particles. For instance "penguin" loops like this
