Today is #DayoftheProgrammer. If you’re big on creating backend solutions, we have some student programs that might interest you in CS, math or cyber. #programming#programmers

Is it just me, or can anyone else look at a youtube thumbnail, maybe watch about 10 seconds of the intro, and immediately read the situation?
I can. Here's what my gut told me:
- Long time programmer.
- Dislikes AI because of environment
- Dislikes AI because it gave him existential dread
- Only social account is a BlueSky
- Has never tried to seriously use AI to build anything seriously, which is confirmed in the video due to his complete lack of awareness regarding the latest frontier models.
Algorithms — Free PDF (472 Pages!)
Want to strengthen your problem-solving skills and become a better programmer?
This 472-page Algorithms book is a great resource for anyone interested in understanding how algorithms work and how to solve computational problems efficiently.
What you can learn:
✅ Algorithm design and problem-solving
✅ Time and space complexity
✅ Efficient approaches to computational problems
✅ A stronger foundation for Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA)
✅ Skills useful for coding interviews and competitive programming
Perfect for Python developers, computer science students, software engineers, and aspiring programmers!

i used to be a very good programmer, built an OS from scratch in C ; a compiler from scratch.
this evening i sat and tried to solve an easy leetcode. and i was blank, didn’t know wtf to do.
im not sure how to feel about this.
How much of your code do you actually write yourself, and how much does AI handle these days?
A) Most of it
B) Some parts
C) Almost none
D) AI is basically my pair programmer
The issue with attitudes like "programmers are cooked" is that the original Marble Madness -- hand-coded by an actual human programmer -- had to exist in order for AI to do its thing.

I'm #1 in Marble Marvell.
I'm also the only player on the leaderboard.
My free, unofficial tribute to Marble Madness (1984) now has mouse/gamepad support, mobile support using an (experimental) virtual trackball and online rankings!

CLAUDE CODE + OBSIDIAN = KARPATHY'S SECOND BRAIN, BUILT FROM 7 FREE PLUGINS
Andrej Karpathy: "Obsidian is the IDE; the LLM is the programmer; the wiki is the codebase."
these 7 free plugins put Claude Code on Opus 5.5 inside that IDE.
38,457 GitHub stars, and your Obsidian vault becomes a second brain that does the work
sorted by stars:
1. claudian - 15,849 stars
Claude Code or Codex inside your vault, which becomes the agent's working folder
↳
2. obsidian-copilot - 7,912 stars
OpenCode, Claude Code and Codex in one panel next to your notes
↳
3. smart-connections - 5,527 stars
related notes surface while you type, on a local model with no API key
↳
4. obsidian-local-rest-api - 3,093 stars
a REST API plus an MCP server, so Claude Desktop reads and writes your notes
↳
5. obsidian-agent-client - 2,463 stars
chat with Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI and @-mention any note
↳
6. smart-composer - 2,332 stars
a chat that knows your whole vault, with one-click edits
↳
7. obsidian-yolo - 1,378 stars
chat, writing, a knowledge base and agent orchestration in one place
↳
where to start:
> already paying for Claude Code -> claudian
> want linked notes for $0 -> smart-connections
> living in Claude Desktop -> obsidian-local-rest-api
the person whose notes an agent can read walks into every meeting already briefed, and that is the person who gets the raise

THE DUCK SQUEAKED AND SHE FROZE. PROGRAMMERS HAVE BEEN CONFESSING THEIR BUGS TO THAT DUCK SINCE 1999
A guy at the stand hands her a rubber duck the size of a melon. She takes it in both hands at 0:01. At 0:03 it squeaks, and she locks up - mouth open, eyes on the duck - for over a second. By 0:05 she is smiling at it. At 0:07 an engineer reaches for it and she turns away, duck tucked against her side. At 0:10 the crowd claps.
Software people know this duck. The Pragmatic Programmer by Andy Hunt and Dave Thomas, October 1999, tells of Greg Pugh, who carried a rubber duck and explained broken code to it step by step. The listener does not need to say a word - halfway through, the problem tends to leap off the screen. The method is now called rubber duck debugging.
On April 1, 2018 Stack Overflow shipped Quack Overflow: a duck in the corner of the screen that listened to your problem, pretended to type an answer and replied with a single quack.
Hers did not wait to be asked.
