Want to avoid having your #randomized #trial discontinued prematurely? Empirically-guided advice here will help.

Randomized trials and observational studies are complementary—not competing—approaches to #causalinference. Here is an example of how #observational effect estimates were used for provisional decision making until #randomized estimates became available 👇

Finally in #PubMed! I am very proud of this new article "Recommendations for the design of #randomized #controlled #trials in #strength and #conditioning. Common #design and #data #interpretation": link:

Happening now, organized by @WHO. "Expert consultation on study designs for #Monkeypox vaccines". We'll be discussing strategies for the design of #randomized and #observational studies for vaccine effectiveness and safety. Join us online, link below.

I want to do a #randomized and wacky #modded #Fallout4 stream So I want everyone to put a mod down below [try not to repeat] include graphic mods and content mods 1 per person and ill be grabbing a max of I think 50 mods Ill be #streaming this Friday Please start now! :

WSDM 2027[1/4]|This work establishes when multiple behavioral and textual proxies can support reliable explanations of user preferences, and when the available evidence calls for abstention. #ExplainableAI #UserPreferences #RobustAttribution #WSDM

WSDM 2027[2/4]|Using randomized-insertion logs, this work audits category-level recommendation statistics and shows that more accurate mean estimates do not necessarily yield more reliable rankings. #Recommender #Randomized #Ranking #WSDM

🧵Huge congrats to @PBarataMD @caseccc who drove this important analysis of @SWOG 1500, published just ahead of #ESMO24 in @JCO_ASCO. Lots of dialogue here in #Barcelona around management of #nonclear #kidneycancer; I think this paper & data from #SUNNIFORECAST are impt parts of the dialogue ... (1/n)

I definitely don't think #nivolumab/#ipilimumab moves into the category of established standard. As a community, I think we need renewed focus on some of the randomized studies that are currently ongoing which may more definitively establish the role of doublet therapies. We also need to understand the role of biological selection - e.g., in #papillary #kidneycancer, should we be using #MET status to allocate therapy? @DrChoueiri #Suarez @tompowles1 et al have contributed greatly to our understanding of #savoltinib alone & (in single arm studies) combinatino with #durvalumab (8/n)

So what are those #randomized trials? I've summarized them here. #PAPMET2, #STELLAR304, #SAMETA & several others require our attention as a community. It's imperative that we definitively establish the role of TKI/IO regimens for #papillary #kidneycancer & other #nonclear cell types. (9/n)

Interested in conducting your own N of 1 #randomized #trial . This very old paper still provides the best practical guidance.
