Today we lost Walter Koenig. Some thoughts about a fine actor and an exceptional human being...

Just got the news of the passing of one of my @StarTrek family members, the iconic #WalterKoenig. The laughs, Cons, flights, great meals, beautiful locations, and the moments we shared with fans around the world will live with me forever. Restful peace, my friend.💕#StarTrek

Walter Koenig 1936~2026 We mourn the earthly loss of a dear senior member of our Star Trek family. Like my favorite uncle who always had me doubled over laughing . I can almost hear the angels laughing, too, as he tries out his new material on Heaven’s stage. #RIP #WalterKoenig

He was so nice, calm, and lovely. A little shy, perhaps. It was an unforgettable moment for us.May he rest in peace. 🙏 #walterkoenig #pavelchekov

Rest well fella. #WalterKoenig

RIP #WalterKoenig - Now there is only one left.

With the sad news of Walter Koenig’s passing today at 90, Creation’s Adam Malin and Gary Berman share memories of working with Walter over the years. “Thanks, Walter. We still remember in 1979 when you became the first Star Trek guest to grace our stages. Your boundless energy, your scathing wit, your academic insight and your warm personality made all of us love you. “Whether you were riding on stage with Marc Leonard in a Ford Model T as Tom Sawyer in The Boys In Autumn; shrieking in agony with that Ceti eel larva in your ear in Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan; brain blasting innocents as the nefarious Psi Cop Bester in Babylon 5; or getting thrown across the bar by gorilla-sized Klingons in ‘Trouble with Tribbles,’ we were always on your side rooting for you. “Over your 47-year tenure on Creation stages, you never ceased to entertain and thrill your audiences with your biting reminiscences of Hollywood, your infectious humor, and self-effacing humility. The Alpha quadrant has grown a little darker with your passing and you will be remembered fondly, with love and reverence." Your Creation Family

George Takei is remembering his longtime “loyal friend” and “Star Trek” co-star Walter Koenig, who died Sunday in Los Angeles: “My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades,” the post continued. “When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man. Just last month, on Sept. 14, he turned 90, on the same day Brad and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. I will always treasure that he and I shared that date. Walter was more than Chekov. He was a writer, a teacher, a thoughtful man, and a loyal friend. To the fans who loved him for so many years, thank you. He loved you too. Rest well, my dear friend. Keep navigating a steady course.”

"Second star to the right..." Rest easy, Walter. 🕯️🖖🏻 #WalterKoenig

Walter Koenig, 1936 to 2026. He gave Chekov an earnest heart, fierce loyalty and "nuclear wessels", from the Enterprise bridge in 1967 to the Enterprise-B in Generations. Rest well, Mr Chekov. #startrek #walterkoenig

Glad I got my autograph from Mr. Chekov when I did. Because without it, the bridge would've been incomplete. Special thanks to @GeorgeTakei , @WilliamShatner & @DragonCon for making this all possible. Thanks for the memories, Walter 🖖🏻 #WalterKoenig #StarTrek
