Jon Trickett MP

Good morning, everyone. It’s Budget Day and there’s lots I’m hoping the Chancellor will announce. One matter is resolving the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme and the British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme.

RT @PeoplesMomentum: Burnham has laid out a bold vision for Britain. Now, we must turn his vision into action. Socialists are already organising across our movement. But we need you. It’s time for a socialist Labour Party ready to deliver change. Join Labour. Join Momentum

It was a pleasure to catch up with my friend and Chair of the Parliamentary Group for State Pension Inequality for Women Rebecca Long Bailey this week. There are 6180 WASPI women living in Normanton and Hemsworth and we will keep pushing until all affected women receive justice.

RT @ucu: Education. It's ours.

This week I attended the Cuba solidarity event with Cuban MPs against the US siege. We heard first hand stories of the humanitarian crisis the people of Cuba are enduring as a result of Trump's policies. I proudly stand with the people of Cuba.

A fairer approach to Capital Gains Tax is projected to raise up to £19 billion a year, helping to rebuild and strengthen the public services we all rely on and that desperately need it. It's time to ensure those with the broadest shoulders make a fair contribution.

Brexit didn't cause the structural hollowing out of our economy; the 2008 crash did. The EU isn't a progressive haven, rejoining won't fix our problems. It's a distraction from the real task: a rupture with neoliberal orthodoxy. My piece for @politicshome

Later today, there will be a debate in the House of Commons on the matter of ‘Mineworkers’ pension schemes in Nottinghamshire’. I remain committed to ensuring pension justice for all members of the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme and the British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme.

Today marks sixty years since the Aberfan disaster. It was a shocking tragedy that devastated a community. The victims should never be forgotten, and my thoughts are with the families, survivors and everyone in Aberfan today.

Today I was at the AGM for the parliamentary group on State Pension Age Inequality for Women. We continue to push for justice for WASPI women and advocate for WASPI demands to the new government.

Yesterday I went to look at photos and documents recalling the Jarrow Hunger March when 200 marched to London drawing attention to poverty in the North. Everyone of them would be deeply shocked that there are 4 million British children today living in households with poverty

The politics and economics of British capitalism are not working. We need a rupture with the status quo, not more of the same. My piece for the Socialist Campaign Group’s 2026 pamphlet ‘The Socialist Policies We Need’.⬇️

Today we said goodbye to one of the greats. My pal, my comrade, my cycling compadre. He started in care and became Leader of Leeds. Don’t forget to treasure your friends whilst they are still alive & keep up the fight for social justice whilst ever you have Breath to breathe

Here is link to Socialist Campaign Group list of policies. Take a look

RT @RichardBurgon: NEW: Socialist Campaign Group policy pamphlet launched 🌹 Andy Burnham has pledged to end 40 years of neoliberalism. Here, members of the Socialist Campaign Group look at some key policies needed to achieve that and rebuild Labour's support. Download 👇

Me and my mate Ian Lavery MP in front of the NUM banner from the legendary South Kirkby pit in my constituency

Today I attended the Miners Memorial Service in Pontefract. Never Forget!! Never Forgive!!!

Así van las antifascistas!! The young in Madrid mobilise against fascism and the extreme Right. Now there’ll be an election in Spain.
