Greatly enjoyed the CardioTan 2025 conference @CardioTanz29481 last week in Zanzibar. Always fun to catch up with old friends and network with various stakeholders in advancing cardiac care in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Excellent discussions on various practical aspect of operating a large cardiovascular program in a resource-limited environment and the practicalities of day-to-day care for patients in Sub-Saharan Africa with key opinion leaders such as Dr. Ahmed Rezq from Ain Shams in Egypt.
RT @HadleyWilsonMD: Incredible scientific meeting Heart of Africa CardioTan 2025 Zanzibar with Mazan Albhagdati, Khuzeima Khanbhai, and many others treating heart diseases & STEMI along with ACC in Tanzania! @HadleyWilsonMD@ACCinTouch
Interesting study that adds to emerging data: AVC is not binary for severe aortic stenosis and is influenced by annular size (etc). And furthermore, as others have demonstrated, AVC may be not be as useful in low flow states.
Very excited for my dear friend and long time @madaktari Board Member and Country Director: Professor Mohamed Janabi. He was recently nominated as Candidate for the post of WHO Regional Director for Africa - 2025 | WHO | Regional Office for Africa
Under his leadership at @TaasisiMoyoJKCI and via a collaborative training partnership with @madaktari, we successfully established the first public cardiac cath lab in Tanzania that now sustainably performed complex cardiac procedures.
His appointment as WHO Regional Director for Africa would be tremendous for the African continent and help advance the cause of establishing advanced, equitable, and sustainable care.
