HMEFCC Shri @byadavbjp addressed the side event, “From Policy to Practice: Advancing India's Biodiversity Commitments through Innovation, Finance, ABS and OCEMS”, at #CBD COP17, alongside Mr. Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia. He emphasised international cooperation that respects national priorities, facilitates knowledge-sharing and improves access to appropriate finance and technology. The event also witnessed the release of three key publications: 📘 Guidelines for the Designation of India’s Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (I-OECMs), 2026 📗 The 5th National Report on the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety 📙 Convention on Biological Diversity Handbook: Reference Guide and Indian Perspective 📕 India's ABS Success Story, highlighting India's work in Access and Benefit Sharing. 🔗

The discussions also covered Project Cheetah, with India appreciating South Africa’s continued support for the initiative and both sides looking forward to advancing cooperation on these shared priorities.

At #CBD COP17, HMEFCC Shri @byadavbjp met Mr. Carsten Schneider, Germany’s Federal Minister for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, to discuss shared priorities in wetland conservation, climate adaptation and international climate finance. The meeting also reviewed the Joint Declaration of Intent on the conservation and wise use of wetlands, following the 4th Indo-German Environment Forum in New Delhi, and explored cooperation ahead of UNFCCC COP31.

As part of #SpecialCampaign6, MoEFCC undertook cleanliness and space-clearing activities, along with the collection of E-waste for responsible management. These efforts are helping improve the upkeep and utilisation of the Ministry premises.
