The Grok graph is sloppy, but yeah, pretty much. We manufactured around 9 to 13 million, and imported around another 5 or 6 million guns each year during that period. Plus, the number of home builds skyrocketed during that. Nobody knows how many of those got built. Thanks to 3D printing and cheap Harbor Freight drill presses, there's an incomprehensible number of home builds that never hit the system. Even better that estimated start number is insanely unrealistically low. There's been 381 million NICS checks. However that didn't start until 1998, so it doesn't count all the multitude sold before that (and most guns never wear out). Plus, you can purchase multiple guns on one background check from an FFL (the most I ever saw is 14!). AND many states didn't use NICS for the background check requirement, they use their own state BCI or equivilent, and this includes some of the gun nuttiest states. So basically, there's a vast number of guns in America, guns aren't the problem, and the more gunned up the area, the lower the violent crime for reasons that are super obvious to everybody who isn't a brain dead liberal.

As @ClayTravis and @BuckSexton have been telling you: Fewer guns DO NOT equal less murders. In fact, it's the opposite.
