identity studies series 1, "if I don't save my circumstances, I don't save myself. If I don't love them, I don't love myself.", closes tonight. as we seek ourselves in others, as we interact, we shape public space. What kind of public space would you like to build? Art can have an impact, if we push it around and we show it. We are at a critical moment in history, with identities lost and a future that many people believe has vanished. It hasn't. But too many forces have led some to believe there is no hope. There is hope, and it starts by rebuilding our identity. Understanding what is truly ours, what has been passed on, what are interested opinions and what are real points of view. Stay alert. Think, reflect, find yourself. And soon, start building the public spaces you want. Maybe with a little music? thanks to the collectors who acquired, thanks to everyone who has supported in one way or another. Something I noticed while making these: the more organic the material a model is trained on, the more of its character the model keeps. The crowds owe more to hand drawings and family photographs than to the geometry of my coded systems.

Series 0, last year, asked what identity looks like in intermediate, dreamt and synthetic states. Series I asks where it comes from in the first place. The answer, as far as these works go, is from the others. The sale is open until Saturday 18 October.

Many people built who they are out of what they do. When a machine can do part of that, the question is not only about work. It is about what is left of the self when the activity is taken away, and most of us find that out by looking at each other.

Nº 15. The figures here are turned outward, towards something outside the frame. I think of it as the moment of looking for the answer in somebody else.

AI mediates the places where we meet, and more and more it builds those places. If identity is formed in the encounter with others, then whatever sits between us and the others is now part of the encounter too.
