I looked back at seven years of Quarkus and how much we can now use through community extensions. Which extension has saved you the most integration code? #Quarkus #Java

An agent asked to find a ticket may also have tools to change priorities or send replies. I explore how to define its job, separate drafts from delivery, and enforce the authority you actually intended to give it.

How do you describe the UI you want a coding model to build? I explore a test-results viewer in four directions: Swiss report, editorial, developer workbench, and neo-brutalist. The examples include working filters and failure details, with prompts that specify layout, typography, and spacing. The screenshots come from one shared implementation session.

I gave a deliberately broken Java pricing calculator 50 tests. Every one passed. So, what do your AI-generated tests actually prove? Three examples of checking the requirements, assertions, and inputs before trusting a green build.

RT @doodlestein: Everyone who owns hardware with abominable software (like Sonos players) owes a debt of gratitude to Venkatraman Srinivasan and the rest of the eMudhra gang in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Without their gross negligence, it'd be a lot harder to counterfeit certificates and fix the sw🙏

I built a two-step Qute/HTMX form and followed validation, editing, and submission using the keyboard. A 422 response brings back the entered values and focuses the error summary. If I Tab away during a slow request, focus stays where I put it. The Java 25/Quarkus example includes Playwright tests, axe scans, and a manual screen-reader procedure.

Good reminder to avoid compiling regular expressions from unrestricted user input whenever you can. Even setting RCE aside, ReDoS is a real risk with backtracking engines. If you must, quote the input, use a linear-time engine like RE2, or bound match time.

Sports update: in the Champions League of incident response, the SOC has lost 7:0 against a teenager with a Raspberry Pi. The manager blames the referee, the cloud, and "the sophistication of nation-state actors." It was a default password.

An agent tool called search(query) still leaves the model guessing which data it searches and what syntax it accepts. I'd start with a specific name and a description of the actual search rules. Then define what an empty result and a failed call mean. Java, Quarkus, and LangChain4j examples: #Java #AIAgents

My Java inventory example had one item and two callers. TLC found the overselling sequence in a TLA+ model; Lean checked a separate arithmetic rule. The Java tests stayed in the build. In this Main Thread Podcast episode, I revisit spec drift and the limits of those checks. Listen: #Podcasts

Why searching for “Nesbo” returns nothing when Jo Nesbø is right there in the index. A classic Hibernate Search analyzer mismatch, and the small asciifolding change that fixes it. Hands-on diagnosis + the regression test that keeps it fixed. #Java #HibernateSearch #Quarkus

RT @myfear: I added a transactional outbox to a Quarkus checkout: order and event commit together in PostgreSQL, then a scheduler publishes to Kafka. The walkthrough covers JVM crashes after commit and after Kafka acknowledgement, plus an idempotent fulfillment insert. I also explain where Debezium's embedded Quarkus engine fits.
