Independent NECBlitz Media Preview Interviews Thread: Duquesne Mercyhurst Mercyhurst GM Waring New Haven Stonehill Wagner

RT @NelCastNY: Just some general #NECMBB thoughts as we're four days away from the start of the season. • LIU has the most talent in the NEC this season BUT I don't anticipate smooth sailing, especially early on. They have 12 new players + a rather tough non-conference schedule, it feels like matching the 24 wins they put up last season could be a challenge. • Outside of LIU, Mercyhurst has the best starting 5 in the NEC. Depth could be a huge question mark though. • It seems like Le Moyne will be leading the NEC in threes attempted this season. They have guys on that team who aren't afraid to fire it up. • CCSU's strength is their coaching. That might be enough to propel them to a top 4 finish, but I don't particularly love their roster this season. • Don't know what to make of Wagner or Stonehill this season. A ton of new faces, especially on Wagner. If either finished in the top four, it is a successful season. • I'm down on FDU this season. I wouldn't be surprised if they are in a fight just to get into the NEC tournament this season. • Chicago State should be more competitive this season. Landon Bussie has a reputation for big turnarounds in year two. I don't think they'll finish in the cellar. • I could see New Haven going through a sophomore slump in its second season in the NEC. They are going to need to develop some go-to guys.

We'll have the Mercyhurst Flag interview up late tonight. It's been great talking to coaches in Western PA- northwest and southwest- about how the sport is growing and what their team identities are. And they offer so much to prospective student athletes.

I don't know what Fleetwood Town is, only that if this happened in college football they would simply find a way to make sure UTEP could never upset Texas again.

LIU unsurprisingly at the top.

I simulated the season 10,000 times to determine the best-case and worst-case outcomes for all 365 CBB teams, using the preseason uncertainty estimates specific to each team. You can find the results for every single conference here:

Day of mourning here. RIP to King Cool himself, Donnie Iris.

I saw Donnie Iris- King Cool- in 2019 and it was life altering. RIP from yinzers the world over.

Just wrapped up a fantastic conversation with @Zack_Helsley, HC at Mercyhurst Flag. It's really exciting seeing how WFLAG is exploding in the region and we'll be watching the Lakers all season.

RT @DuqFB: another day at the office for @_luke_miller_7 3️⃣ straight double-digit tackle games 3️⃣ straight NEC Prime Performer honors 📊 vs. Wagner: game-high 10 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack, two forced fumbles and a pass breakup. #GoDukes

RT @DuqFB: mood for victory Sunday 🙌

Coach Schmitt post-game after the win over Wagner.

Stonehill takes down LIU, and CCSU stands alone with their own games against LIU and Duquesne still ahead of them.

Duquesne isn't in a "win out and they're in" situation in the NEC, but they came roaring back in the 4th and may have just gotten some of the help they needed.

RT @StonehillFB: ARE YOU KIDDING??? WHAT A CATCH BY JAYLIN BAKER TO GIVE US THE LEAD IN THE FINAL SECONDS!!! @SportsCenter @espn @NECFootball @NCAA_FCS #GoHill #NECFB #DIG

Scoop and score and Dukes up 52-21. They were losing entering the 4th.
