Financial institutions need to generate and host private keys in their own environment, so we built it. HSM Signing lets them sign in their own HSM while Turnkey handles the messiness of crypto: authentication, policies & transaction management.
    Turnkey 🔑 @turnkeyhq
Introducing HSM Signing! Our institutional customers require private key generation & signing inside their own environment in order to operate. Turnkey now offers self-hosted HSM signing and handles authentication, policies & transaction management beyond the signature.

RT @withAUSD: The prediction he'd bet on for the next 12 months: the number of AI agents holding crypto is about to explode. @sadbryce, Co-Founder and CEO of @turnkeyhq, on why RWA is underrated and the hardest problem in stablecoin infrastructure right now. Check out the Agora Quickfire 👇

Banks blocking AI agents is great for crypto. JPMorgan and Citi have restricted what agent access to consumer accounts. Although this allows them to protect their business in the short term, eventually agents will look for less friction: programmable stablecoin rails. It's the typical innovator's dilemma. Banks trying to protect their existing business could end up accelerating the adoption of the very technology threatening to disrupt them.

building Turnkey has given me a unique view into what actually works in consumer crypto. we’ve worked with some of the biggest apps in the industry, from Axiom to Moonshot to Etherfi, and I’ve gotten to see firsthand what separates the apps that win from the ones that don’t. here’s how to ACTUALLY win in consumer crypto: 1/ I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to survive the cycles. crypto is one of the most volatile industries out there, and in the span of two years the market can go up, down, and sideways multiple times over. a few strong weeks of trading volume can make new founders feel like the money will keep coming forever, especially right after a raise. it won’t. you have to manage burn carefully, stay disciplined, and make sure the business can survive long enough to catch the next wave. 2/ you must have a defensible moat. we’ve seen the same crypto concepts launch over and over again, and a lot of them end up failing for the same reason: there’s nothing defensible about them. in crypto especially, you need a real moat. that can come from the product itself, a technical advantage or even distribution and brand. Moonshot simplified the consumer buying experience. Axiom offered lightning-fast trading for crypto power users. Etherfi gave robust neobanking to a global audience. you must figure out what your moat is and build around it for years. 3/ think long term. one of the biggest mistakes founders make is optimizing for the next few months instead of the next few years. it’s easy to get distracted by token launches, incentive campaigns, short term volume or whatever narrative is hot that quarter. those things can accelerate growth, but they can’t be the entire business. the best companies focus on building products people will still want to use when the incentives disappear. 4/ distribution matters just as much as the product. you can build the most technically advanced product with the best UI in all of consumer crypto, but none of it matters if nobody knows it exists. the best way is to build viral loops directly into the product. many of these have been perfected by non-crypto products: invite incentives, Venmo-style “Your friend sent you $5” flows, and social network effects launchpads are a perfect example of this. every new token launch naturally creates something for users to share, promote and rally attention around. social trading products work the same way. trades, positions and leaderboards become content that gets pushed back into the feed, bringing more users into the product. to sum it up... consumer crypto is hard, but the playbook is simple: survive long enough, build something defensible, think in years, and make sure distribution is part of the product from day one.

my prediction: personal ai agents will be winner take most. consumers largely have similar needs and they will flock to the handful of general purpose agents that solve their needs.  enterprise agents will be more fragmented. enterprises require deep customization, integration into existing systems, and broader change management.  Brian’s post is a perfect example of this — why pay through the nose for a general purpose model when you can get better results tailored to a narrow use case?

We were able to fine tune an open weight model (Qwen3.5-9B) on proprietary internal data at @coinbase, and it out performed frontier models, at much lower cost and speed, for a specialized task (fraud prevention in this case). I think we'll see more of this pattern inside companies. The frontier models are amazing generalists. But increasingly you'll see specialist models out perform on more narrow tasks, either working on teams, or by themselves. We're making it easy to fine tune models internally for our employees. We even have a skill for it in our internal harness that makes it easy to spin these up and start training them: "/fine-tune-and-serve-llm I want to fine-tune Qwen for payments risk review. help me get started" I imagine we'll have some backend services that could be replaced entirely by this new architecture.

many people still don’t understand how powerful non-custodial wallets are for fintechs. they're the foundation of the first truly global fintechs. a few years ago, launching a product often meant taking custody of user funds, which came with a massive country-by-country regulatory burden. non-custodial wallets flip that structure. the user owns and controls the funds, while the fintech can build the user experience around the wallet without necessarily taking custody of user funds. this doesn’t eliminate regulation, but it significantly reduces the burden, which is why crypto infrastructure has become the go-to stack for fintech builders.

hot take: crypto and fintech are basically the same industry now. stablecoins and blockchain rails ARE a financial technology. crypto native companies are now launching cards, bank accounts, other financial products, while traditional fintechs are integrating wallets, stablecoins and blockchain rails at an unprecedented rate. we’re watching both industries attack the same problems from opposite directions until they eventually meet in the middle. crypto companies are becoming fintechs and fintechs are becoming crypto companies.

my AI prediction: AI companies are playing fast and lose with permissioning, and this gets even more dangerous as crypto comes into the picture we're basically on a path towards one of two worlds: either we build the proper infrastructure around permissions, scoped access, spending limits, transaction policies and human approvals and AI leads to huge abundance. or we give AI the keys to the kingdom where one rogue agent decides your checking account is actually ITS checking account. if agents are going to control money, they need hard boundaries around what they can access, how much they can spend and which actions they can take without human approval. we are thinking about this at @turnkeyhq. agents need guardrails otherwise we're going down a very scary path your choice anon.

Turnkey is your favorite infrastructure’s favorite infrastructure when designing our platform we made the intentional decision to give developers access to bare metal APIs (instead of just higher level abstractions) this has made it easy for other infrastructure providers to integrate our wallets into their SDKs. Modern Treasury, Rain, Yellow Card, Bridge, Agora, Lightspark, and more bring Turnkey wallets tailored to their specific users.
