SK Hynix's U.S. 🇺🇸 subsidiary Solidigm is in talks with the Commerce Department to invest $45B in a new U.S. memory chip plant, per Bloomberg. But there's a condition. Solidigm wants Washington's approval to send new chipmaking equipment to its existing NAND flash plant in Dalian, China, before moving forward. The company argues that upgrading its Chinese facility would increase revenue to help finance the U.S. project, while developing technology that could eventually be used at the American plant. Solidigm has told officials that total U.S. investment could eventually approach $100B. New York is among the locations under consideration, with construction potentially beginning in 2027. The talks come just days after SK Hynix scrapped plans for a potential $10B Solidigm IPO. No final investment decision has been made.

Broadcom $AVGO CEO Hock Tan personally stepped in to get the $63B Anthropic chip deal done. After nearly two months of negotiations, some banks were considering pulling out of the deal, known as Project North Star. The problem was growing concerns over AI-related debt and higher interest rates. Some lenders felt they weren't being compensated enough for committing more than $40B. Over the weekend, Tan held last-minute talks with bank executives, agreed to higher interest rates, and provided additional assurances around Broadcom's financial guarantees. The deal was announced Monday. Here's the interesting part: Broadcom isn't lending Anthropic $63B directly. A separate financing vehicle will purchase the chips and lease them to Anthropic, with Broadcom providing financial support for the senior debt. Another $18B in riskier debt carries no Broadcom guarantee. So Broadcom isn't just supplying the chips. It's also using its balance sheet to help make the purchases possible. Source: WS

ANDURIL & QUALCOMM ARE TEAMING UP TO BUILD 🇺🇸AMERICAN-MADE LAPTOPS The two companies are launching BlueChip, a new venture focused on rugged, waterproof laptops for the U.S. military, government agencies, police, and first responders, per WSJ. The laptops will be assembled at Anduril's Arsenal-1 facility in Ohio, powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X chips manufactured by TSMC in Arizona. Anduril founder Palmer Luckey says roughly 90% of the planned components already come from the U.S. and allied countries, with the goal of eventually making the entire laptop in America, including its display and other components currently sourced overseas. The focus is on building secure computers with fully traceable supply chains, reducing dependence on foreign manufacturing for national-security applications. Pricing hasn't been announced, but Luckey estimates the laptops will cost around 20% more than typical high-end PCs, with the first models expected in 2027.

LIQUID AI LAUNCHES SIX AI MODELS YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE ON ONE GPU Its new LFM3 family covers text, images, video, voice and structured decisions, with models around 2 billion parameters designed to run on your own hardware. One result stands out: in Liquid’s evaluation across 62 vision benchmarks, its 1.9B-parameter vision model matched Gemma 4 12B’s average score of 71.4, using roughly one-sixth the parameters. Here’s what the lineup can do: • Text: a 256K-token context window for agents that use tools, work through documents and carry out tasks across browsers and business apps. • Vision: understand images and video, reason through charts and locate objects within a scene. • Audio: voice conversations and tool calls in 18 languages. The Omni model combines vision, audio and language, so an assistant can respond to what you show it and tell it. • Decisions: return structured answers with calibrated probabilities in a single pass, giving applications outputs they can act on. Under the hood, LFM3 combines gated short convolutions, sliding-window attention and global attention. Liquid designed this architecture to improve capability per parameter and keep inference efficient over long contexts. The practical use case is specialization. Developers can adapt a model to their own data and tools, then deploy it locally. Liquid demonstrated this by fine-tuning its vision model for wind-turbine inspections using a few hours on one A100 GPU. That gives businesses a way to build task-specific assistants on hardware they control, without a per-token API charge for local inference.

Google DeepMind just unveiled Genie 4, its next-generation AI world model, and the demos are pretty impressive. Unlike a typical AI-generated video, Genie 4 creates interactive environments you can explore and modify in real time. You can change the weather, introduce objects or characters, and interact with people who move, react, and speak. It also generates native audio, including ambient sounds and dialogue, while simulating physics and collisions. Built on Gemini Omni, it uses Gemini's reasoning capabilities to maintain continuity and simulate multi-step events, with potential applications in robotics training, gaming, and filmmaking. Genie 4 is currently available to trusted testers, with access coming to Google AI Ultra subscribers through Project Genie and select API partners.

$AVGO +3.5% Following the announcement of a $63B financing deal covering roughly 1.7GW of Anthropic's planned AI compute capacity, using Broadcom's XPU accelerators and networking systems, with deliveries starting in 2027. The deal creates a separate financing vehicle that will purchase Broadcom's hardware and lease it to Anthropic. Bank of America, Citi, and Morgan Stanley are arranging the senior debt, while Blackstone backs the second-lien financing. StoneX notes that the deal finances compute Anthropic had already planned for 2027, rather than representing an entirely new $63B hardware order. UBS points out that "Broadcom is neither the lender nor the borrower" in this structure. Instead, it provides residual-value support covering approximately 72.5% of the financing, or roughly $46B, while collecting a fee for that support. Including the earlier $35B financing arrangement for 2026 shipments, UBS estimates Broadcom's combined residual-value exposure at $70B–$75B. This isn't an upfront cash outlay, and the exposure declines as Anthropic makes lease payments, but it does leave Broadcom with a significant financial obligation tied to the future value of the hardware.

Boeing $BA -10% 🩸 Following Boeing's cut to its 2026 aircraft delivery outlook, as production increases for the 737 MAX and 787 Dreamliner are taking longer than expected, partly due to engine supply issues. Boeing now expects to fall short of its target of around 500 737 deliveries this year, while 787 deliveries are expected near 90, the lower end of its previous guidance. It could also take until the end of 2027 to reach its longer-term 737 production target. The commercial aircraft division reported a $697M operating loss, nearly double the $361M loss analysts expected. Boeing also reported a core loss of $0.34 per share vs. $0.21 expected, although revenue rose 4% to $24.2B and free cash flow of $464M beat estimates of $325M.

S&P Dow Jones Indices and Kalshi are joining forces to build the next generation of financial markets. The Dow launched in 1896. The S&P 500 in 1957. The idea was simple: bring individual stocks together into a single benchmark, giving people a clearer view of the broader market. Over time, products built around those benchmarks transformed investing. Index funds, ETFs, futures, and options gave investors ways to gain diversified market exposure and hedge broad market swings. These indices became foundations of global finance. More than $20 trillion is indexed or benchmarked to the S&P 500 alone. Today, this structure extends beyond stocks to bonds, commodities, currencies, and more. The next step is to bring that structure to the events that shape everyone’s lives. Through this partnership, S&P Dow Jones Indices and Kalshi will work together to create indices composed of Kalshi event contracts. Think about what that opens up. An index of political power. An index of supply chain risk. An index tracking AI’s impact on employment. An index of sports outcomes that affect broadcasters, advertisers, cities, and small businesses. An index of weather risks that shape harvests, energy demand, and business revenues. Each would bundle event contracts into a single indicator, helping people understand how related risks are evolving. Over time, products built around these indices could offer diversified exposure to those events and new ways to hedge their impact. The events that shape our lives could become as easy to track and gain exposure to as the S&P 500.

AXIOM'S AI AGENTS VERIFIED A 15,000-PAGE MATHEMATICAL PROOF IN 24 DAYS The project covers the Classification of Finite Simple Groups, built across hundreds of research papers over decades. A swarm of agents divided up the work, wrote proofs, reviewed one another’s contributions and merged changes through GitHub. They produced about 40 million lines of formal proof, checked by Lean. Axiom’s broader goal is to bring this workflow to software and chip verification: multiple agents handling large projects, with a separate system checking their output.
