Hacktoberfest stopped counting pull requests toward rewards this year 👀 Still want a first open-source contribution? Ray, vLLM, llama.cpp, LanceDB and Milvus all had "good first issue" labels open this week. Use our step-by-step guide:

This week's #SystemDesign newsletter is ready to read. It covers why server clocks can put events in the wrong order without any errors, and how Lamport clocks, vector clocks, and consensus handle ordering instead.

Spotify starts a song in under a second, queues the next track before the current one ends, and still pays royalties correctly. Here's our breakdown of the #SystemDesign behind it, from edge caching to event-driven royalty processing:

If every bug in your AI app ends with you rewriting the prompt, you're only debugging one layer of a system that actually has six 😳 Check out the full Anthropic Generative AI Engineer interview guide here:

100B+ messages/day. 2B+ users. 🤯 How does WhatsApp make messaging work at that scale? A real-world masterclass in distributed systems! Watch our System Design breakdown out now!

RT @fahimulhaq: Big update: we built a new learning platform. Not just for software development. It’s for anything and everything. You can try it right now at I can’t wait for you to try it and tell me what you think. But first, a bit of backstory. Recently I was helping my daughter with her algebra homework. I think it was a module on quadratic formulas. We were both stuck. Maybe you can relate.  At that moment, I had a funny realization. I've spent the last ten years building an e-learning platform, and I still couldn't find the right resource to get us unstuck. So, mid prompt-battle with Claude, here’s what I was thinking: AI is great at giving answers. But getting an answer and actually understanding something are very different things. So I put my developer hat back on and started tinkering. What would the ideal learning platform look like with the technology available to us today? Not just for devs, but for anyone hoping to understand something new. And not just passive AI outputs, but structured lessons based on the science of how people actually learn best. Today I’m excited to show you what I came up with. @Fenzoai is a learning platform built for the AI era. It’s designed to help you learn anything you need to know — and actually retain it. Whether it’s quadratic equations, exam or certification prep, or AI skills, Fenzo builds you an interactive course on any topic, aligned to your goals, in seconds. With Educative, we've spent a decade building a learning platform that truly works for software developers like us. We built Fenzo on those same principles: ⚫️ Active learning > passive learning ⚫️ Projects and challenges for real-world practice. ⚫️ Dynamic lessons that adapt to your goals and progress Head to now and try it for yourself. I'd love to know what you think. Use the feedback button on the platform or just drop a comment here!

#OpenAI and #Anthropic just spent Series A-sized budgets on Super Bowl ads to troll each other? One side wants to be your OS. The other wants to be your best friend. Full breakdown of the AI bloodbath out now:

Ain’t no way this guy suddenly knows how to code this good 🤨🤣 #openclaw #developermemes #codingmemes #techhumor

You don’t understand Node.js as well as you think you do. 👀‼️ Most tutorials teach the syntax — not what actually happens at runtime. Let’s fix that. (THREAD)👇

7/8: Express is intentionally thin. It doesn’t replace Node — it just adds structure for routing and request logic.

8/8: If you’re up for that “second weekend”…we go deeper in our Node.js and Express courses. The fun kind of deep! 😎  🔗

RT @fahimulhaq: FYI - I recently started a tech newsletter called "Future Stack" over on LinkedIn, and the latest edition is ready to read: via @LinkedIn #Google #Apple #Gemini #Software #Tech

me looking at the codebase: what kind of monster wrote this? me looking at the git history from 2011: it's me, hi. i'm the problem, it's me.

There’s always a creative breakthrough happening in a designers dreams 😅💀
