This has nothing to do with animal advocacy, but I just want to tell you that I saw a total eclipse this year and it was one of the coolest experiences ever. Sometimes you've just got to sit back in awe of the natural world (universe?). 🌞🌚

What a thrill to be invited to speak at the #ChinaVeganSummit in Shenzhen, #China. 🇨🇳 I had always been curious about the animal advocacy happening in this massive, influential country. Happy to report that there is a lot! 🙏🏼 Had a truly 10/10 time and grateful to the #ChinaVeganSociety for the invitation and for organizing such a stellar event full of beautiful people. 🫰🏼

Happy birthday to my late, great mom, Karen Oberg, who would've turned 72 today (but passed away in 2015). 🧡 This pic from 2012 is her holding the booklet that changed her life. 👀 In 2010, I had been volunteering handing out these booklets from @VeganOutreach that talked about the mistreatment of today's farm animals, the benefits of #veganism, and plant-based recipes. One day during a long drive, I handed her this to read. I then hear sniffling only to look over to see my mom crying. She says "I just can't do it anymore, Johnny. I can't eat animals ever again." I was so proud of her. She never ate another animal the rest of her life. She was the best. 🧡

People claim that they can't give up #meat because they love the taste too much. An interesting counterpoint is that much of what they're tasting is actually just the seasoning, spices, & sauces. Food for thought. 🤔
