- Floris and Benavides provided an unsolicited briefing to me and @ChuckGrassley in August 2020 — then someone leaked it to the media to smear me. There is much more to this story and more players involved. Documentary evidence, contemporaneous communications, and witness accounts contradict their testimony. Floris is also on record privately claiming to be “running a shadow government” during the 2020 election in her role on the FITF. Lying to Congress by senior FBI officials strikes at the heart of our system. No one is above the law. The return address matched the description of letters sent to other congressional and state offices across the nation. My staff immediately isolated the envelope, cleared all staff members, and called 911 and the Sergeant at Arms. The first responders confiscated the letter, and thankfully, everyone is safe. Our office operations have now resumed as normal. I'm grateful to local law enforcement and first responders for their quick response.1404162.5K81K
