Making civic duty a family affair! Picked up my youngest after her class last Thursday so we could go vote together for her first time. Locked in 3 progressive votes from our family in this deep red state. So proud of the next generation! 💙🌊💙

True sovereignty lies with the people, not the state. We have forgotten our fundamental civics—starting with the role of the Attorney General. When we stop teaching the Constitution, we lose the power to hold our government accountable. #Constitution #Civics @BobFiorettiChi

Civic literacy is in crisis. When foundational principles are ignored, we risk losing the very freedoms that define a society. This isn't just a classroom issue—it is a reality shaping election outcomes for generations to come. #Civics #CurrentEvents

True democracy isn't just majority rule; it's the protection of individual rights. Lincoln reminded us that a free society depends on constitutional limits that no ballot can erase. Some rights exist before any government or vote. #History #Civics

Civics in action. Navigating initiative petitions and practice-round requirements is a vital part of the process. Sometimes, the most important work happens before the final pitch is ever submitted. #Civics #Education

Maryland, it’s a beautiful, spectacular day in the Free State and early voting is open! I cast my ballot this morning at the Silver Spring Civic Building with—and for—@iamwesmoore and @willjawando. The crowd was gigantic and the mood was exuberant—after living through so much dread and fear over the last two years, it’s amazing to feel unity, momentum and optimism for the Democracy! In 12 days the Democrats in Congress are going to win a majority that can start the huge job of cleaning out all the authoritarianism and corruption saturating our government. Marylanders can also vote YES on Question 3 and thereby say NO to Trump’s program of voter suppression and disenfranchisement. You can vote early though October 29th, to pm at any polling place in your county which you can find at: Rock on early voters!

🇺🇸 The U.S. presidency comes with major responsibilities — and constitutional limits. Four-year terms. Electoral College elections. Checks and balances. Understanding the office helps explain how the U.S. government works. #uspresident #civics

Changing the constitution shouldn't be a routine event. When special interests use amendments to bypass the legislature, the fundamental integrity of our government is at risk. Laws belong in the statute books, not the founding document. #Government #Civics

Taking the Oath. Article II, Section 1, Clause 8 — Presidential Oath of Office — a duly elected President of the United States swears (or affirms) their oath of office, below is that oath: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, PRESERVE, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” I capitalize the word PRESERVE because this oath, unlike others taken by federal officials, is the only one to use the word PRESERVE. The @POTUS has a duty to not only protect and defend, but to PRESERVE our constitution.
Pray that our leadership understands this. I believe America is moving into previously uncharted waters, and our constitution is (will be) tested in the years ahead as maybe only one other time in U.S. history. Can it stand the test of the past of our American experience? I pray it does for the sake of our freedoms, our civic responsibilities, and especially our children. We still live in the greatest nation in human history, pray it stays that way.

Today, my husband and I completed our civic duty and protected our votes from fraud by casting our ballots. Straight Red Up and Down the Ballot! That’s 2 more votes for Republicans. Let’s win this.
