CPython internals classes, self, and class vs instance attributes. Class attributes live once, on the class itself, shared by every instance via lookup. Instance attributes (self.x = ...) are private per object. #Python #CPython #100DaysOfCode

CPython internals: @contextmanager. You can write a context manager as a generator instead of a class. Code before yield plays __enter__, the with block runs while the generator is paused, and code after yield plays __exit__. #Python #CPython #100DaysOfCode

CPython internals: writing my own iterator. A for loop calls __iter__ once, then __next__ on every pass, and stops when __next__ raises StopIteration. That’s what GET_ITER and FOR_ITER in dis output were doing. An iterator whose __iter__ returns self is single-use:

list(c) works once, then gives []. A list can be looped repeatedly because its __iter__ returns a fresh iterator each time. #Python #CPython #100DaysOfCode
