Tracking internet outages in Russia? Data center strikes? I just came across an outage monitoring tool from VPN provider Amnezia called Amnezia Pulse that posts on telegram Here is a blog post describing their monitoring technique A good complement to classics like @netblocksmedoyid_ua @LetsArmUKRAmnezia Pulse has logged 80 internet disruptions across 36 Russian regions in just over a month. On its map of the past 30 days, regions with three or more reported shutdowns are marked in orange. One or two get yellow. None get green. The Kremlin’s internet crackdown is spreading across the country. Not a problem confined to Moscow. The orange regions have been hit repeatedly. For people trying to communicate, work or get information, each shutdown is another reminder that access can be taken away.0232.4K

Iran Faces Risk of Another Wartime Internet Shutdown 🔹Iranian economic news outlet Zoomon reported on October 21 that unnamed authorities had issued a binding directive to cut international internet access immediately if there is a renewed assault on Iran. The outlet did not publish the document or identify its issuer. The reported order has not been independently verified, and its scope, exemptions, and conditions for restoring access remain unknown. 🔹Deputy Communications Minister Vahid Yazdanian has separately said renewed war or unrest could bring another shutdown, while suggesting President Masoud Pezeshkian might play a greater role in authorizing restrictions. Former communications minister Ahmad Motamedi identified the Supreme National Security Council as the body responsible for wartime decisions. 🔹The warning follows the prolonged internet blackout that began with U.S. and Israeli strikes on February 28. On May 25, Pezeshkian ordered access reopened after most Iranians had spent 87 days largely disconnected, according to NetBlocks. 🔹Iranian industry representatives reported steep sales losses during previous internet restrictions. Communications Ministry officials have also acknowledged that domestic networks and selective business access cannot replace public connectivity, particularly when customers and suppliers remain offline.329562

NASA FIRMS indicates a strike on the 500/220 kV Taman substation in Russia's Krasnodar region. It transfers electricity from southern Russia to occupied Crimea. Crimea is now in a total blackout, while NetBlocks shows internet traffic from the peninsula near zero. #Ukraine913998029.2K

North Korea's internet has been close to zero since Oct 19, per NetBlocks. State websites are down. Worth remembering: only a tiny elite can reach the global internet there. Everyone else uses a closed national intranet. So this mostly cuts the regime's voice to the outside world, not ordinary citizens. Technical failure, power shortage, or deliberate? Unclear.Insider Paper @TheInsiderPaperNorth Korea hit by widespread internet blackout as state websites go dark000174

A major power blackout has hit Russian-occupied Crimea following reports of damage to the Taman 500/220 kV substation in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai. The substation is a critical node in the mainland electricity link supplying occupied Crimea. NASA FIRMS satellite data reportedly detected a thermal anomaly at the facility, while NetBlocks documented severe internet connectivity disruptions in Sevastopol. Russian-installed authorities confirmed power outages. Reports indicate that electricity was restored in some areas, but further interruptions followed. If confirmed, damage to this infrastructure exposes a strategic vulnerability: Crimea’s dependence on electricity transmission from mainland Russia. The full extent of the damage and the duration of the outages remain unverified. Sources:115951.5K- Show more posts
