    Is Arbor Energy the key to power AND water for data centers? They just cracked the code to supercritical CO2 turbines, which have been something of a holy grail in power generation, especially in Arbor's case, because: 1. Using sCO2 as a working fluid can achieve energy efficiency rivaling large combined cycle gas plants in a much smaller footprint––e.g. behind the meter at data centers. No one had pulled it off though because it requires engineering a system capable of withstanding immense pressure, temperature, speed, and corrosion. Until now! 2. Combining this with oxycombustion of natural gas (CH4) means the outputs are only CO2 (used, recycled, and/or sequestered) and water. Arbor's power modules will PRODUCE tons of water while powering data centers... a MILLION gallons per megawatt, to be exact. So not only will their 25MW Halcyon system power data centers, it can ELIMINATE their water burden and even produce surplus water for local communities! 3. The key components can be 3D PRINTED! You've surely heard of the bottleneck in gas turbines, which is primarily due to the way in which combined cycle turbine blades must be produced (single-crystal casting). I'm extremely proud that @cantos was Arbor's very first investor and has invested in every round since then. Watch this company!

    RT @ryderkimball: I spent 24 hours with the @RainmakerCorp crew at the end of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula this summer, chatting with moose hunters and flying drones that would later go on to produce 19 million gallons of freshwater in under 3 hours. As much as I enjoy staring at colossal dams in dumbstruck awe, it was far more inspirational to watch a handful of people confront drought without needing to block a river with concrete. I wrote about the experience, cloud-seeding, and the company's plan to double the flow of Colorado River in the link below.
