RT @ameetgsingh: The Pune Municipal Corporation (some wards kothrud areas) performance with regard to trees in the past few months. February through October. Data from some tree hearings Info compiled is as below : few months of 2026 just the hearings in few ward offices was compiled together the totals across pune are staggering numbers. Let’s leave that for another day. Month C T New Feb 83 81 3008 Oth 1 5 80 Mar 31 58 2056 Apr 22 7 708 Oct. 38 77 2076 _________________ Cut 175 Trans 228 New 7928 Please read on; They’ve felled over 175 old growth trees. They promised to transplant over 228 old growth trees but knowing their extreme level of irresponsibility towards transplanting trees they’ve failed at it. Discount the successes as exceptions., in any case the trees that get transplanted are at a significantly lower level of Environmental service and efficiency due to their lost ecological productivity. They’re supposed to have planted 7928 new saplings in these wards and I’m damn sure they have failed at planting the required number of saplings as also those that we got planted under our supervision have to now endure these brutal summer like temperatures in October and never mind drought all over Maharashtra. This is in a few ward offices where our volunteers are constantly engaging with them to keep the tree 🌳 cover. Imagine what’s happening across the city. We got this data together with great difficulty only because we’ve constantly supervised the goings on. But; who will supervise the supervisor the curse called the IAS. Why shouldn’t the municipal commissioner be booted out of his position. Pune is his kingdom after all. This is their performance report. Month after Month. Year after Year this perfidy goes on. They steal this cities natural capital and destroy our air, temperature and water. Fill it up with garbage, kill our rivers and we are supposed to be cheering them on in the name of development. At a national level they have taken down over 5 lakh acres of forest those are anywhere between 5 to 10 crore trees. As per the CAG they’ve failed at meeting their own targets of fresh plantation by 94%. Imagine meeting your targets with only 6% success. Nobody knows what happened to the budgets allocated for this endeavour. Nobody is any the wiser. They have taken down the report since from the CAG website. Hide everything government so that things go away by themselves. IIT IAS our national curse. Now they want to fell another 5000 acres of trees for pumped storage across India. 2000 acres out of those are within thick forests. The Bhimashankar Torrent project is one of them, there are several such in the pipeline. 13 have received approvals. how long will they keep getting away with these murders and massacres of nature’s bounty. Then they complain about droughts and floods. All of which while they busy themselves emptying out the reserves of water that we have. Trees are our only reserves. I asked them for exact data on 305 talukas. Their exact water storage capacities. The exact population dependent on those water sources. The approximate date they’ll be running out. The failsafe or plans they have to reach water to these talukas. For, If they don’t, those people have no choice but to migrate to where there’s water. What’s the plan in that case. No plan is the answer I have. 2026 2027 might be the first years we begin to see climate migration at such a scale after 1971-72-73. How many people will be forced to migrate. No idea. No model & No data. Seems there is no data on all the above accounts. I can’t find exact numbers @gurudasn and @SVYadwadkar if you find them, let me know. On questioning them, People in drought affected talukas, across Maharashtra don’t know their own water data. The CM is just a prop. He is blissfully unaware about what’s going on in his administration. The bureaucracy has zero credibility or accountability. This is the system.

RT @mitech666: @Dev_Fadnavis @Dev_Fadnavis, in most PMC wards people r regretting voting BJP as 50% of corporators r underground / busy in TENDERs, but many people in East Pune ward 15, 3, 4 etc still have faith & support Dynamic @BhimaleShrinath as strong BJP leader (as compared to many "YES SIR" puppets)

RT @atulmodani: #Elnino has caused severe drought accross Maharashtra, no Monsoon rains after July , even no rains in Ghat areas later which receives highest rainfall in India. Majority of the rivers, dams, wells across Vidarbha, Marathwada and Southern parts of state are DRY right now. Crop loss is very severe. This video denotes the state and severity of the drinking water problem the state is and will face in coming time. In last decade, Latur city received water via train but this time this situation is grave as almost all cities, villages don't have any near by source of drinking water. Govt and all citizens will have to keep in mind how powerful nature is and what measures we will have to ensure so that we will not face untoward hardships because of non availability of the water in future. India being most populous country in the world needs to ensure availability of water than any other infrastructure project first. This we will have to treat as an emergency. #Maharashtra #दुष्काळ

RT @sushmadate: Is the Miyawaki plantation by Pune Forest Department a scam? This is shocking! Questions to the @PuneForest 1. How can contractors be paid for work done BEFORE a proposal for that work is sent to the state govt and accepted? 2. Was no tendering done, as claimed in this write up? 3. We know for a fact that a dense Gliricidia forest was present on the 3 hectares on #VetalTekdi until May - how can they claim that deep digging and spreading of manure occurred from Jan to March? 4. Was due process followed for the uprooting of lakhs of Gliricidia trees on 68 hectares of precious Forest land in Pune? Until this matter is investigated by higher authorities, further culling of Gliricidia trees should be halted.

RT @VetalTekdi: What a pathetic let down! @PuneForest graciously(!) agreed for @VTBKS_Pune + @ForOikos to carry out a 'more natural' eco conservation action on a test plot, while pushing for Miyawaki. Who'd imagine that Miyawaki was only a front! 🥺 Why don't they just leave #VetalTekdi be?
