Julie Borowski @JulieBorowskiI voted Democrat in Oregon! Of course, I voted for Governor Tina Kotek. I can't believe the race against Republican Christine Drazan is so close. Probably because people believe all the bad stuff they see on social media. The truth is, Portland is doing just fine. The Democratic values of compassion, empathy, and endless second chances have made Portland what it is today. And I think the results speak for themselves! 💙🗳️
Portland Moderate. @pdxmoderateThe problem with Portland’s policy class is that it has confused compassion with the abandonment of accountability. They champion policies like Measure 110, fail to adequately address the consequences, and then congratulate themselves for being compassionate while people in crisis go without effective treatment, neighborhoods deteriorate, and businesses pay the price. That isn’t compassion. It’s policy failure dressed up as virtue. Where is the compassion for the residents who no longer feel safe downtown? For the workers who have to navigate disorder to earn a paycheck? For the business owners watching their investments deteriorate? Or for the people who put $108.3 million into a Portland hotel, only to see a reported sale price of $6.83 million for 220 rooms? That fire sale of Royal Sonesta represents a staggering collapse in price. It doesn’t, by itself, prove that government policy caused the entire decline—but it should force some very uncomfortable questions about downtown’s safety, tourism, operating costs, and investment climate. The economic chain reaction isn’t complicated: When people stop feeling safe, foot traffic suffers. When foot traffic suffers, businesses struggle. When businesses struggle, property values and tax revenues come under pressure. Public safety and effective behavioral-health services are not luxuries. They are foundations of a functioning urban economy. Yet Portland’s leaders have too often treated enforcement, treatment, and accountability as though they conflict with compassion. They don’t. People experiencing addiction and mental illness deserve real help, and everyone else deserves safe streets. A serious government must deliver both. You cannot repair a damaged reputation with another task force, another slogan, or another tax increase. You repair it by restoring order, providing effective treatment, protecting commerce, and measuring results instead of celebrating intentions. Compassion without results is an empty promise. Policy without accountability is an expensive failure. And a city that refuses to govern effectively should not be surprised when investors, businesses, workers, and visitors decide to take their money elsewhere.

Hunter Biden @HunterBidenSo not only did a Russian Oligarch connected to Putin pay for Don Jr.s wedding party- they went on a Mongolian honeymoon hunting trip together too. I chose a more traditional family values honeymoon in Hawaii with my wife. (08/26/19)
Christine Drazan @ChristineDrazanThe vast majority of people living on our streets are facing severe mental health challenges, addiction or both. Tina Kotek completely ignores that reality. My plan will break the cycle of homelessness and addiction by name and need. And no more tent cities when I’m governor.
