rbitcoin 0.9 should be released this week, depending how testing goes. this release will feature docker builds plus major improvements in performance, stability, and reliability along with new features like blindbit serving and trusted peer mode and more. If you've valued my work on rbitcoin to date, please donate to support ongoing development! For funding transparency, donations have so far covered inference costs and my travel for TABconf and rust-bitcoin summit, but no living expenses over 3.5 months of full time development. sp1qqwkt0aetchmm5gzucxych7l7kxaevetpx7npe54e236zqv73jevr5qucy5pgnut9fm7syjmlqv9ykm3qzzpfc0v3j737plzvvuy8k08a4scn62wl yes. I know. donations would be easier if I supported legacy addresses, but I don't yet. reardencode@strike.me reardencode@cash.app Or X money!

RT @TFTC21: Mike Schmidt broke down Bitcoin Core v32.1 and surfaced something important: Core updated its disclosure policy specifically because LLM tools are making bugs easier to find. "Core's recently updated policy fast-tracks the disclosure of easily discoverable vulnerabilities. LLM-assisted security scans helped motivate the change." All three vulnerabilities disclosed today were found by Project Loupe, an AI-powered scanner built at Spiral. If defenders can find them with LLMs, attackers can too. Beyond security, v32.1 packs 715 merged PRs from 111 authors. Fee estimation now factors in live mempool conditions. Initial sync is 1.2-3x faster. The libevent dependency is fully replaced with in-house code. Stratum v2 keeps advancing. The infrastructure keeps getting stronger.

Bitcoin Core v32.1: a deeper look First, why no 32.0? It was tagged on October 21 but never fully announced or released. A remotely triggerable TCP crash was reported on October 23 and 32.1 shipped on October 27 (yesterday) with that fix and two others. I'll dig into the security updates, but this release also represents months of testing, maintenance, and work to make Bitcoin easier to verify and use. What went into these v32.1 changes and what do Bitcoin users get from them?

so many improvements going into rbitcoin today. mostly small things that improve the stability and resilience of the node or make it more compatible with various client software. truly exciting times. I can really sense a shift in the development to more refinement and less big features and changes.

RT @chrisclarkefly: I teach all my students they can lean the mixture to reduce engine power if the throttle ever sticks.

A Piper Cherokee pilot found herself in an extraordinary situation over Texas when her aircraft’s throttle became stuck at full power, leaving her struggling to descend for landing. On October 25, the pilot of N56861 contacted Conroe Tower, explaining that she couldn’t reduce engine power despite attempting to pull the throttle back. With two people aboard, the problem meant the aircraft continued producing excessive power, making it difficult to lose altitude without building speed. The pilot discussed switching off one of the engine’s two magnetos, which provide the ignition needed to keep the engine running. Operating on one magneto appeared to reduce power enough to begin descending. Controllers cleared runway 14 and allowed the Cherokee to circle the airport while she gradually lost altitude. Flight-tracking records show the aircraft eventually landed at Conroe at approximately 5:33pm local time. Remarkably, the same aircraft was recorded flying again the following day. #AviationNews #PiperCherokee #AviationEmergency

RT @Rob1Ham: Great work by @ProjectLoupe and @L0RINC for finding these bugs! While they are vulnerabilities, they are low / medium severity and the Bitcoin protocol is resilient. No loss of funds possible from these issues. A learning from this is that some of these were found earlier than reported within the Red Team, but the initial findings did not identify the full blast radius so they were not immediately passed along to the security list. Thank you to all of the Bitcoin Core developers who work hard building on Bitcoin so it can be the best money ever!

🚨 BREAKING: Three new Bitcoin Core vulnerabilities discovered including a bug allowing attackers to remotely brick nodes. The vulnerabilities include two medium-severity flaws that could allow malicious peers to exhaust node memory and a third that could corrupt blockchain undo data under extreme conditions. @ProjectLoupe, an AI-powered security initiative at @spiral_xyz, independently identified the vulnerabilities alongside other researchers, including @L0RINC of the #Bitcoin Red Team 🟥. Fixes have been released in Bitcoin Core versions 29.5, 30.4, 31.2, and 32.1, although certain 32-bit and FAT32 configurations remain vulnerable to the third issue.

Socialism is not an economic theory that failed. It is a technique of power that works. The economics always fails. The rhetoric never does – on those easiest to manipulate, and for those who rise by manipulating them. Socialism has never delivered what it says. It has always delivered what it is for: power.

In a comment to the FAA, SpaceX says it wants to launch 10,000 times per year. The FAA asked for input on where to build new spaceports and how to give rocket launches priority in US airspace. They're preparing for 10,000 launches a year by 2035. SpaceX replied that rockets aren't the bottleneck anymore, the FAA's outdated air traffic processes are. They created their own airspace tool (Cleared) that most major US airlines already get for free. They also noted that Starbase Louisiana is designed for ~30 launches and reentries PER DAY (!!)
