    When someone damages your house, our legal system makes them pay. When billion dollar companies cause catastrophic damage by fueling climate change, they should pay. This fight isn't over. I'm grateful to @NewYorkStateAG for leading the charge.

    Super speeders—people who are caught blowing past the speed limit 16 times or more in a year—are 2x as likely to cause a crash that results in serious injury or death. And there are way more of them this year than last year.

    Today, @kaymsanto introduced a bill to implement the Stop Super Speeders Act, which @Sen_Gounardes and I passed earlier this year. The Council must pass the bill so the program can be implemented swiftly. It will save lives.

    Slowing down super speeders saves lives. @Sen_Gounardes and I fought for years to pass our bill at the state level, and now @kaymsanto is taking it across the final hurdle at the city. We are fighting for every family that’s lost a loved one to a preventable crash.

    Thinking about my visit to Seneca Meadows, NY’s largest landfill. All of our landfills are at or nearing capacity and leaking toxic chemicals into our land, water and air. We are running out of space and time. We need to transition to a circular economy ASAP.

    The good news is we have many of the technologies and policy proposals already. We must pass PRRIA, the Better Bottle Bill, and @AMKelles’s circular construction package to dramatically divert from landfills. It might be hard to fathom now, but all progress is until it happens.

    Imagine having $100M to burn and choosing to light it on fire rather than pay slightly more in taxes so your neighbors can have healthcare. These same people will tell you homelessness is a crime and we need more police, weapons tech, and surveillance. Do not believe them.

    We're paying $300M a year for gas that leaks into our homes, making us sicker. We're paying $1B a year for gas companies to tear up our streets to repair antiquated infrastructure. And then there's the cost of storm damage. We must invest in renewable energy instead.

    Trump is counting on the fact that Americans are too inundated by his corruption to be phased by this, but the weaponization of the DOJ against a sitting Congresswoman for "immigration fraud" is a new, albeit predictable, phase of the fascist experiment. I stand with @IlhanMN.
