    Today we’re announcing our $100M raise, led by @peakxvpartners and @137ventures, with @AvraCap, @a16z, @sequoia, @Redpoint, @ZeroPrimeVC, and @AmplifyPartners all joining the round. And that’s not all: we’re also launching Hex 4.0, a new foundation built for agents. Everything is code, so agents can work with your data and people can verify every number. This round lets us keep building on that foundation without slowing down growth or hiring. More on Hex 4.0 later today. We’re deeply grateful to the 2,500+ teams building on Hex.     AI can build the chart, but you still have to know what it means. In “We were never chart builders,” Andy Cotgreave made the case that data work was always about judgment, not output. AI just makes that more obvious. The work now is about curating context, catching when AI frames something wrong, and helping people across the business use AI well. No playbook exists yet for this moment, which means great data leaders get to write it.

    At the @NHL, getting insights “used to be like playing a game of telephone.” So Oliver Gomes, SVP of Data and Insights, rebuilt his data team so people across the league could self-serve with AI. He shared how they re-architected the team and the operating model they’re using to scale it league-wide and context was a big part of it: “Context is the difference maker when it comes to creating a true, productive relationship with your business users.” The payoff is better questions. With AI, “we’re not just asking ‘Why are ticket sales down,’ we’re asking about the entire fan journey.”

    Not an investor, just a happy customer: We recently moved to Hex, and I told the team "love the design of hex, charts actually look good now" It's also fast. So makes me more likely go at look at them. We also integrated it to @linear so my agents questions, or loops can now find the data too.

    Meghana Reddy and Nova Wang from @StubHub opened the day with a talk on how data roles have changed with AI, and what hasn’t. As Nova put it: “The best data people are those who can translate their expertise into digestible formats.” Then Mariam Melikadze from @nytimes took on the other side of that. AI is creating more questions than any team can answer, and more analysis doesn’t automatically lead to better decisions. Her framework shows you how to map your decisions, set the speed, and build for it. Two sessions in, and the theme of the day was already clear - AI is changing the data person’s role, not replacing it. Good judgment still matters.

    Building is the easy part in today's age but the real question is whether you want to own one long term. Ask yourself (and your team) these few questions first: 👉 Is the workflow truly unique to your business? 👉 Will you have engineering time to keep investing after the prototype? 👉 Are you comfortable with part of your data team becoming the team that maintains it? If most of those answers are no, the parts worth owning are your metric definitions, business logic, and the institutional knowledge that makes an agent useful. Not all the infrastructure around it.
