Open Source AI Week is a wrap—and what a week. 11,000+ people came through the week’s events. A record 66 events on the calendar. More than 200 organizations involved. The community showed up: 🎉 The Kick Off Party, hosted by @huggingface, brought together 1,800 people to celebrate open models and the people building them. An incredible start to the week. 🎙️ The Open Weight Debates at @github delivered three lively debates about AI’s future. Over 1,000 people registered, the room hit capacity, and people were lined up outside hoping to get in. 🛠️ The ExecuTorch Hackathon with @qualcomm and @metaai. brought together 200 participants across 35 teams, building across Compute, Mobile + XR, and IoT. Congratulations to the teams behind the track winners: • Compute: MotionVitals AI • Mobile + XR: Second-Ear • IoT: Venturo Home Mobility From mobility measurement to phone-scam detection and accessible home automation, the builders showed what on-device AI can make possible. 🏆 The Open Source AI Awards filled the room at @fdotinc. Ten awards recognized projects and people making a difference—and someone went home with a new Mac mini for their agents! Congratulations to: @vllm_project @harborframework NeMo Guardrails (@NVIDIAAI) ExploitGym Hermes Agent (@NousResearch) Arize Phoenix (@arizeai) @danielhanchen @QGallouedec @rasbt @thedotmack for Claude Mem, now CMEM 🍽️ The Attention Is All You Eat dinner brought the community together around the table, keeping the conversations going beyond the stage. A huge personal thank-you to our core team: @KevinCrosby1 @_kayyoo @ekang426 @yujian_tang. Your care, commitment, and work made this week possible. Thank you to the Open Intelligence Foundation (@open_intel_fdn) for organizing the week, and to the entire team behind it. To our week-wide sponsors: @GoogleDeepMind @arcee_ai @Azure @near_ai @SemiAnalysis_ Thank you for backing this community. And to our event partners and supporters, including @github @huggingface @Qualcomm @Meta @hackersquadio @fdotinc @PyTorch @reflection_ai @NousResearch @PrimeIntellect @LaudeInstitute @ollama @MistralAI @UnslothAI—and everyone who hosted or supported an event—thank you. To every volunteer, speaker, judge, builder, maintainer, and attendee: you made this week what it was. It’s clear now more than ever that open source AI is thriving and growing. RT @zuzanna_pathway: “It would take someone with a lot of patience, budget, and conviction to push forward approaches that go beyond Transformers, approaches that don’t give you immediate gains on benchmarks. Those approaches are unfortunately cut out because of incentives in Machine Learning.” — Peter Norvig at the Open Source AI Summit in SF. And then @adrian_pathway took the stage to talk about the Post-Transformer Frontier :) For me, it was pretty incredible to see the three “big moments in AI” jamming together at a cosy meetup in the middle of a calm afternoon in the Presidio. Peter (shaped the field of AI) - Illia (co-invented Transformers) - Adrian (leads Post-Transformers). This event was an absolute gem. I genuinely had fun, took notes and photos of slides (!) The next generation of AI is inevitable. It is being built on efficiency, not brute force. The first generation of AI won by massively scaling the Transformer. At Pathway, we are here to change this. Thank you to @ilblackdragon, @ekang426, @build_planet, @near_ai, and @open_intel_fdn for bringing the community together!
